📊 The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) had a 23 percent reduction in turnover today, but the index rose slightly from the previous day.

📈 The DSEX, the stock exchange's benchmark index, increased 19 points, or 0.06 percent, to 6,392.

📉 The bourse's turnover today was Tk 637 crore, down from Tk 836 crore the day before.
On the DSE, 137 stocks rose, 195 fell, and 43 stayed the same.

📊 As part of its efforts to boost the supply of US dollars in the economy, the Bangladesh Bank has instructed banks to convert big export revenues into taka as soon as possible.

📍 For the value-added share of export earnings, the rule will apply. The export revenues that are available to exporters after their import bills for back-to-back letters of credit have been met are referred to as the value-added part.

📍 "It has been noticed that on repatriation of export profits, the value-added share is not promptly encashed into the taka, resulting in delayed cash support to exporters for satisfying working capital needs in the taka," the central bank said in a statement yesterday.

📊 Coppel, a Mexican retailer, wants to import more readymade clothing, as well as bicycles, home textiles, underwear, home appliances, jute products, and ceramics, from Bangladesh.

👉In July, a 10-member group led by Walmart's sourcing manager Jorge Gomez Garcia will visit Bangladesh, according to Abida Islam, Bangladesh's ambassador to Mexico, who spoke to the trade ministry in Dhaka.

👉In a letter dated May 27 to the ministry's Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, the ambassador stated that Coppel has been doing business with Bangladesh successfully and satisfactorily for numerous years, with imports from Bangladesh increasing from $5 million to $20 million in just a few years.

🧳 Exporters have bad news!

👉While export growth is expected to decrease in the coming months due to a bleak global economic outlook, the government is considering boosting the source tax on export revenues to 1% from 0.5 percent in the upcoming national budget, according to sources.

👉 Doubling the tax rate, particularly at a time when countries around the world are battling with rising prices and another round of economic slowdown looms large on the horizon, could have major ramifications for export-oriented businesses, according to those worried.

👉According to economists, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) may propose raising the source tax on exports as the greatest alternative for increasing revenue collection.

👉 Officials announced on Wednesday that the government will need about Tk 10.15 trillion to complete 1,349 current projects over the next three years.

📊 They stated that the government is expected to allocate Tk 8.21 trillion in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the next three fiscal years (FY), which is Tk 1.94 trillion less than the need.

👉The financial allocation would steadily decrease, but implementation of development projects will require roughly Tk 6.14 trillion in a single fiscal year, 2022-23, according to a Planning Commission (PC) research.
The government, on the other hand, has set aside Tk 2.46 trillion in the ADP for the coming fiscal year.

🟧 The National Economic Council (NEC) authorized the money for the ADP to undertake the 1,349 projects on Tuesday.

According to the report, the operator's earnings before income tax, depreciation, and amortization climbed by 1.1% year over year in Q1 2022, to Tk 5.1 crore.

👉 Along with Russian astronauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov, NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei returned to Earth after extending the record for the longest single spaceflight by an American to 355 days.
