Fayetteville Police Department Officer Involved in Shooting



(Fayetteville, NC) – On Friday, July 1, 2022, at approximately 9:41 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to a residence along the 2300 block of Colgate Drive in reference to an unknown disturbance.



While officers were on scene investigating, they were confronted by an armed subject. An officer with the Fayetteville Police Department discharged their weapon, fatally striking the subject.



The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been contacted to conduct the investigation into the officer involved shooting. The involved officer will be placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation, as is standard procedure. The Fayetteville Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an internal investigation to ensure all departmental policies and procedures were adhered to during the incident.



The names of all parties involved are currently being withheld and additional information will be released during a press conference at 1:15 am on Saturday, July 2, 2022. The press conference will be held at the intersection of Colgate Drive and Sydney Drive.
