Puto bumbong is a Filipino purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes. It is traditionally sold during the Christmas season. It is a type of puto (steamed rice cake). You can also make this at the comfort of your home without using bamboo tubes.
Puto bumbong has a distinctive purple color, which is part of what makes it so festive for Christmas. Originally the color came from using a special type of glutinous rice called pirurutong, though it's no longer readily available. Now the color comes from using purple yams or food coloring.

Mochi (pronounced MOE-chee) is a Japanese dessert made of sweet glutinous rice flour, or mochigome (which is known as Japanese sticky rice). It can be baked or steamed. With a chewy, smooth, elastic texture, mochi dough is often tinted with green tea powder (matcha) or other food colorings and formed into a final small bite-size confections Mochi shape. It is also similar to a Filipino sweet snack called "Tikoy". Mine is a Filipino version consisting with milo and dust with cocoa powder!

GINISANG PECHAY/ULAM ON A BUDGET
HOW TO COOK GINISANG PECHAY?
INGREDIENTS:
1/4 klo Pork Meat (cutted into pieces 1 inch)
3 bunches Pechay (chopped)
8 cloves Garlic (minced)
1 pc Onion (chopped)
2 pcs Tomato (diced)
3 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 cup Water
2 tsp Seasoning Granules
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 1/2 tbsp Cooking Oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the pan and oil in medium heat. Saute garlic and onion followed by tomatoes.
2. Put the pork meat and saute it until cooked through.
3. Add 1/2 cup of water. Cover and let the water reduce and pork meat to be soften.
4. Add oyster sauce and mix evenly.
5. Add another 1/2 cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 2 teaspoons of seasoning granules, mix evenly.
6. First, add the stems of Pechay. Cover and let it cook for about 1-3 minutes.
7. Then, add the leaves. Cover for atleast 2-3 minutes in high heat. When the Pechay is softened, stir it evenly.
8. Continue to cook for about 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat.
9. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve and enjoy!

SAUCY ADOBONG SITAW
HOW TO COOK SAUCY ADOBONG SITAW?
INGREDIENTS:
• 1/2 klo PORK MEAT (thinly cut into 2 inches)
• 25 pcs STRING BEANS "SITAW" (cut into 2 inches)
• 10 cloves GARLIC (chopped)
• 1 pc ONION (chopped)
• 3 pcs TOMATO (chopped)
• 1/4 cup VINEGAR
• 1/4 cup SOYSAUCE
• 1 cup WATER
• 5 tbsp OYSTER SAUCE
• 2 tsp SUGAR (optional)
• 1 tsp BLACK PEPPER
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the pan in medium heat and put the pork meat. No need for grease because pork meat will produce oil on it's own.
2. Just continue mixing until meats turns golden brown. Set aside.
3. In the same pan, saute the garlic and onion using the oil produced by pork meat.
4. Add the cooked meat and mix.
5. Add 1 cup of water. Add the vinegar followed by Soysauce. Simmer for 3 minutes.
6. Add the string beans "sitaw" and mix. Cover for about 3-5 mintues for the string beans to cook.
7. Mix, to cook the string beans evenly. Add 1 teaspoon of Black pepper and 2 teaspoon of sugar.
8. Add 5 tablespoon of oyster sauce and slightly mix.
9. Simmer for about 2 minutes and turn off the heat.
10. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve and enjoy!
NILAGANG BABOY/PORK SOUP
HOW TO COOK NILAGANG BABOY/PORK SOUP?
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 klo Pork meat (2 inches cut into cubes)
• 2 pcs Potato (peeled & cut into cubes)
• 4 pcs Saging saba (peeled & sliced crosswise)
• 1 small Cabbage (quartered)
• 1 bunch of Petsay (ends trimmed)
• 2 pcs Onion (peeled & quartered)
• 5 pcs Spring onion (chopped)
• 2 pcs Pork broth cube
• 1 tbsp Salt to taste
• 10 cups Water
PROCEDURE:
1. In a pot, put 10 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
2. While boiling, put the pork meat. Let it boil for 45 minutes or wait until it becomes tender. (Water will lessen while boiling, it depends on you if you want to add cup of water).
3. When the meat is already tender, add pork broth cubes and onions.
4. Add potatoes and let it soften for about 10-15 minutes.
5. Add salt and spring onions. Add the saba banana and let it boil for about 3-5 minutes.
6. Add the cabbage, followed by petsay. Let them cook for 3 minutes.
7. Turn off the heat. And immediately cover the pot.
8. Serve and enjoy!
