The reminds me of the song that I want to be tried by fire, purified. Reading the Word of the Lord should begin to purify us. The Word is as pure as sliver, and Jesus is that Word in flesh. So if Jesus dwells within us, then it should be purifying us. That is what you call sanctification. Now do you want to be made like silver? Well get ready for some time in the furnace in order to be refined. We should want all the to be left is God's Word living through us.

So many people like to discredit the OT because it was before Jesus came to the earth. However, there is so much wisdom to learn from it. Psalm 116 is a great reminder of what God has done for each of us. The Lord has done so much for us that we need to be thankful for. Stop just focusing on the things of God and start focusing on you personal relationship with Abba.

There are so many times in our lives that we may for a season begin to doubt God, the existence of heaven and hell, or even why you are here. However, Psalm 114 though it may be short, gives us encouragement to stand firm in our faith. The earth trembles in the presence of the Lord even still today. He turned a rock into flowing waters. The challenge you face is not too big for God. Rely on Him and He will keep your paths straight.

Who is like the Lord who dwells on high? There is none like Him. His great name should be praised by us from sun up to sun down, however, many of us get caught up in the day to day rat race and do not even take a moment to pray let alone praise Him. That is something that we need to do more is to have gratitude and be sure to show our praise. I recently heard someone say that our outside should match our inside, by being a representation of our walk with the Lord. Well if we are not inwardly praying, praising, and producing the fruits of the Spirit, it will be much harder to do these things outwardly.

The Lord's works are wonderful and should be remembered throughout the generations. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, however, we are not. That goes against our flesh honestly. Today, I saw a post that someone had made about a verse in the Bible and people had criticized it so badly. People lack compassion and love. It is easy to see. Even folks who say they are Christians throwing utter hate, pride, and arrogancy on the internet. We should be cultivating more fruits of the Spirit starting with love. Real love for one another where we are building people up rather than taring each other down. Letting people know about our gracious and good Abba. Telling people about what Jesus did on that cross for them. Showing them what it means to live Godly life.

Saturday may have been silent, because Jesus had just paid it all for us. However, the next morning would be glorious with the resurrection of our savior. But before this, Jesus had to hang on the cross for all of his sheep. He is the good Shepard that took all of those sins to that cross. Today is not a day of silence anymore, but full of joy because we know the amazing things that the Lord did for us.

Isn't it wonderful that the Lord always keeps His promises. Psalm 110 reminds us that when the Lord swore something that He will not repent or turn away from it. Too often, we get burned by people saying one thing and then doing something else. I grew up hearing my father tell me that "a man was only as good as his word." Of course as a child I did not understand that people lacked true honor. One thing we must wrap our minds around is that the Lord is trustworthy and if He said it, we can certainly believe it.

Something I think people forget is the 2 greatest commands that Jesus spoke were loving the Lord and loving our neighbors (Matthew 22:34-40). However, that is not always easy. Be honest it is not. That is why we must rely on the Lord and His Spirit that dwells within us. Yes, there will be days when your love for others will be rewarded with evil and your kindness is met with hatred. Many are seeing those things in these days. This is when we should be showing the Lord's love and grace so much more. Without love, we have nothing. No matter how it comes back to you, still continue to rely on Jesus and show love just like He did.

This is so very true that it is with God that we can do anything. I think a lot of people tend to forget that. I heard a senior giving a speech at graduation and she kept saying this same phrase about 20 times, "I want to thank me." Now not only was the speech longer than it needed to be, coming from a prior Valedictorian and that absolutely no one will remember what was said in the speech even 5 years from now, but the fact that we are all where we are today because the Lord was with us. Many years I was not a believer nor a pew warmer, however, I look back on that period of my life and I thank the good Lord for seeing me through all of it. No I was not smart, but hey I am still alive today thanks to Him. I think that just like that young woman, we do not give God enough credit and glory that He deserves. Thank you God that there was Jesus in those highs and lows.

This hit really hard today. To be honest, it can be difficult at time to have self-control over things like food, spending, and slothfulness. Yes we all know that we need to be healthy and no we do not necessarily need whatever it is that you may be eyeing at the store. However, a verse like this on a Tuesday morning after you have recently weighed yourself and suddenly you have gained quite a bit of pounds back, it is that extra boost of motivation that you need to get yourself into gear. We do not need to be like those cities with crumbling walls folks. We need to have self-control over everything. I know that will be especially hard coming into the holiday season. Being from the South it is hard to turn down things that are given to you and it is even harder to reign in that spirit of giving. Not everyone needs brand new or 1000 gifts. We need to practice self-control and also teach it to the next generation.

Something that this generation tends to lack is the ability to admit when we are wrong. We do no want to go to church because we do not want to know that how we are currently living is actually a sin. We do not want to admit that we have sinned and done wickedness just like every single generation before us. This is why we need the Lord. This is the reason Jesus died on the cross, because we are all sinners. We must first admit if though. Then we can all be born again, resurrected, sinner that has been forgiven. Our sin is not the end of the story, but the beginning of us living for Him.

Oh now there may be some people that will argue about this, but faith without works is dead. How is it dead? Because without your works, how will your faith bring others to Christ? Most people are not brought to Christ to because they just happened upon a church one Sunday morning and decided to go in. No most people it is because someone near to them invited them and the person was able to see from their actions that there was something different that they wanted to have. It is by your works that others see Christ in you. If you just have faith and show up every Wednesday and Sunday to church but never do anything except sit on a pew, then you are not doing what Christ commissioned each and every single believer to do. It is the season of Thanks and Giving, so what good deed are you doing for those around you?

Now have you ever seen things that you wanted but you really did not need them? Those things were more than likely useless or worthless things that you just had to have at a point in life, but it a year or two would not matter at all. The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 101 to not set anything before my eyes anything that is worthless. We would honestly probably save so much money if we looked at things that we want in this light rather like the rest of the world which is all about self gratification and materialism. God calls us to be more contempt with the things that He has given us rather than wanting what everyone else has.

Alright so I was talking to my brothers the other day about meeting at my grandmothers house on Sunday after church. One of them said work and I said no church. He said oh well going to church is work. I thought man that is a terrible way to view going to the house of worship. I love going to church even on the days that I do not feel like it. My flesh will try to keep my family and I out of church by everything going wrong on a Sunday morning. However, every time I get to church, I know that our attitudes and moods will change. We should all enter into the house of the Lord not with a sense of work or dread. Not it should be a place that we want to go and enter with praise and gratitude. It should boost your mood and change you from the inside out.

Sometimes we read the stories about Moses, Aaron, and Samuel as well as others in the Bible and put these men on a level with Superman or Capitan America. Almost like they were superheroes on a whole different level than we are on. Not that we worship them, but that we can not call upon the Lord like they did. However, that is not true. These were all men that yes the Lord did use for His ultimate plan, but they were all still men. We serve the same God that they served. He is still on the throne and is the same from the beginning until now. That is why He is called the Alpha and the Omega. You can call upon His name and He will hear you and answer you. It may not be audially, but that does not mean that your prayers are not getting answered.

Oh how I have always loved music, but I think that my favorite music now is anything that my daughter sings. She makes up her own songs that she sings to the Lord as well as sings some worship songs. It is just so beautiful as a parent to witness your child singing their praises to the Lord. She loves the Jesus not because I told her to or because she has gone to church since she was three years old. It was not anything that I or anyone else has said to her. She has her own relationship with the Lord which is honestly probably the greatest testimony of any I have ever seen. She sings of her joy a new song which is honestly how all of us should be. That is why Jesus told us to come to Him as little children having that raw unfiltered faith. It is as sweet and pure as honey. Frankly I think if more of us adults had faith and love for the Lord as children, there would not be near as many people battling doubts.

One of my favorite verses comes from Leviticus 20 which is the call from God to be set apart. He says "be holy, for I am the Lord your God". Psalm 97 shows some great examples of that living a more holy life. We are to love the Lord and hate what is evil. However, our world has always loved what is evil. For the world walks in darkness and not in the light of the truth. We should all be faithful to the Lord our God and walk according to His Word rather than the ways of this world.

I had someone recently ask if we had forty years for the Lord to remove the world out of us like it took Him forty years to remove Egypt out of the Israelites. Being in my twenties I would love to say yes, but the fact is that not a single one of us s promised tomorrow. We should not ever think that we must change ourselves before God will love us. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for us, not to be angry with us for forty years, but to save us in the moment we truly believe. Jesus paid it all so that I do not have to spend years trying to be enough. I will never be enough on my own and you never will either. Thankfully we have Jesus because our hearts do go astray.

They will still bear fruit in old age, what a beautiful analogy for the older members of our churches. No they might not be able to build things and serve like they once could. However, they are still useful. We could all learn things from the people in our church who have walked with the Lord for so many years. They have one thing many young motivated servants have and that is wisdom. We do not need to forget them, because they will always proclaim that the Lord is our Rock. The good Lord has kept them around this long for a reason, so do not negate the time that you have with them. Spend time with them and listen to what they want to tell you.

Lord I pray that we all stay under Your wings for that is where our refuge is. Our problem is that when a problem arises, we either try to run at it head first or turn and run away from it. However, if we would just stay still and under Your covering, You will fight for us. His faithfulness is a shield for us, we just need to remember that when we start seeing the waters begin to rise.

My husband is a carpenter by trade, but he is really a jack of all trades. He works so hard with his hands. It is amazing to see what he can do in just a day. That is honestly how we should all work. There have actually been studies recently that came out and showed how working an office job is just as bad for your health as smoking 2 packs of ci******es a day. That is terrible plus another study showed that Farmers are actually the happiest people probably because they are outside and working with their hands. It is not surprising, since not a single one of us were created to sit behind a computer scene in an office all day. Psalm 90 tells us how the Lord will establish the work of our hands, that is real work. We need to get back to that, yes it is hard, but it is much better for our health and brings us back to what God designed us to do.

It is amazing to know that the veil was torn, so that all of us can come before the Father. Know that every time you open your mouth to pray, the Lord hears it right then. When you cry for help, your prayer comes before Him. I think a lot of people think that when they pray that no one is listening. He is listening, but do you have faith that He is behind it. Do not give up just because you may not be currently seeing results. Keep on praying and talking to the Lord. That is one excellent way to build your relationship with Him. Praise you Jesus that we can have a relationship and continue to pray.

Paul is telling young Timothy to stay committed to teaching and preaching even though there will be many critiques along the way. Not that long ago I heard an old preacher here in Texas who is well known telling people not to follow young ministers because they are naïve and not seasoned like he was. However, the problem with this is first of all how is a preacher or teacher supposed to get those miles on them if they are not out there actually doing what the Lord is calling them to do. Also this particular preacher does not know all of the background nor training that the young ministers out there may have lived through. Actually this old preacher was in fact acting more like the old prophet from the story 1 Kings 13 where he was getting a bit jealous of the followings that young ministers are starting to have and seems like he is not yet ready to give up his title of being a pastor. So why not bash and criticize those who are young so that your flock is not tempted to even listen to someone that is younger. Whether you are young in the faith or actually young in general, never let anyone try to undermine or deny your calling that you have from God. It ay be difficult and you may have those around you trying to down play your potential because they know that the fire in you burns brighter than their fire. You have to remember that we are all still made of flesh and some still struggle with sin even in the church. Be that example as Paul told Timothy to be. In every aspect of your life, live it like you are walking in the footsteps of Jesus, and no matter what others will say, your actions will show the truth.

These words right here are ones that I would never want to hear from the Lord. If only, do not let that be your life. Here the prophet Isaiah is telling the children of Israel would have just followed the Lord's commands. They would have had peace, well-being, numerous children, and their names never blotted out. Luckily, for us though, we can follow the commands, by believing in Jesus Christ. By giving your life to the Lord and putting aside your flesh to pay attention to the heart change where you allow the Holy Spirit to sanctify you. Slowly over time, you will notice that the things that you are focused on now will become things of the past. No one should ever hear those words. Pay attention to His commands.

I love when I hear my daughter sing. She loves to make up her own songs to praise the Lord. She sings songs that we hear on the radio and in church, but the best ones are her own songs of praise. She speaks to our heavenly Father in those songs. Pouring out her heart in worship. No it may not make sense to me, but it does to her. We should all encourage out children to sing praises to the Lord, but the best way is to let them see and hear you do it as well. So let us all sing and dance before the Lord.

There may be legitimate reasons to be worried or scared about this day, month, or year. God does not promise good days; He promises a great eternity. Knowing the truth makes it so much easier to walk in all of this uncertainty. Stay focused on eternity - it changes everything.

Being a bit of an armature farmer, sometimes it gets very hard to work the ground and tend to the plants. However, our good Father brings forth the increase of our land. I can plant the seed, work the land, and do all of those tricks out there. However, I can not make the plant grow. It is the Lord that gives what is good. He will and He does provide this good nutritious food for us to eat. It is real and what He always intended us to eat.

People get so focused on what they can get here on this earth. However, we need to keep our eyes on the Lord. A bird finds a nest wherever the Lord provides one for it. It does not care if it is fancy nor to try to keep up with anyone. We are the only creatures on earth so worried about materialism, but guess what, you can't take any of it with you. So come to the altar and begin to worship our great King for what awaits you in heaven is better than anything that can be found in this world.
