"Florida governor Ron DeSantis attended the 2023 Alabama Republican Party Winter Dinner on March 9 as the event’s keynote speaker. In his speech, the governor touted several of his administration’s many accomplishments since taking office in January 2019. The majority of those highlights have been highly scrutinized by the media and have become a trove of fundraising material for left-wing politicians. However, as the title of his new book suggests, DeSantis will not be backing down."

Today marks one year of Capstone Free Press!

One year ago today, we launched with three articles and around six staff members. Now, we have twelve-fifteen on our staff and regular content that we are very proud to produce.

Thank you for all you have done in contributing to our success—reading articles, listening to morning shows, liking and sharing posts, taking and reading our print issue, and encouraging us to continue in our work. It wouldn't have been possible without you.

Our site has been down for about two weeks, but we are looking forward to sharing more articles with you after it is fixed. Thank you for your abundance of patience.

"One of the best experiences of my life as an aspiring actress was working as an extra on the upcoming DC superhero movie 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods.' As a conservative working in liberal Hollywood, it came as a shock to me to see the star of the movie, Zachary Levi, trending on Twitter earlier this month for 'anti-vax' tweets. Even more shocking, the tweets weren’t really anti-vax, they were anti-big pharma."

"Dr. Matthew M. Wielicki, a geological sciences professor at the University of Alabama, announced his impending resignation in a Twitter thread on January 23. Wielicki explained that, while his out-of-state move is mostly motivated by a desire to be closer to family, the growing influence of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices on campus convinced him to abandon his career in academia altogether.

The thread gained widespread Twitter attention. Although there was an almost immediate outpouring of support for his decision, followed by appearances and coverage on national media networks, Wielicki says that some of his UA colleagues have publicly insulted him and insinuated that he is a racist."

"YAF executives and members tabled on the Student Center plaza for three days ahead of Matt Walsh’s final tour stop on Thursday.

The YAF members cataloged their responses from two days and compiled the data into charts to get a better idea of what UA students really think.

The most glaring disparity of all is that women were four times as likely to answer 'What is a woman?' with 'I don’t know.'"

"The reproductive services nonprofit had placements in The Crimson White at the top of an email newsletter, in banners on the website, and across the full back page of the last print issue.

The QR code in print and the imbedded links in the other ad placements led to a Planned Parenthood webpage with a list of services the group provides, including abortion services and referrals, contraception products, and transgender hormone therapy.

Editor-in-Chief Bhavana Ravala confirmed to Capstone Free Press that she did approve the advertisements for publication. It is unclear if The Crimson White accepted money for these ad placements and how much."

"The campaign to change the lyrics of the University of Alabama fight song, a story first reported by Capstone Free Press, has publicly launched.

On Sept. 20, the group held their first public presentation about their goals, showing the same video from CFP’s original report and holding a discussion period.

'This whole thing is about student discretion,' said Elizabeth Prophet, the event’s host and chair of the Honors College Assembly’s Diversity and Cultural Engagement Committee. 'We’re not here telling you "you need to do this." We’re having a conversation to gauge interest.'"
