Weekend Update: Tuesday April 7

Today, the Andrews government confirmed that Year 12 exams will be postponed until at least December and that learning for most students will be online for Term 2. The Federal Government also released two papers relating to their modelling of the disease, we have attached the link below. In other news, there is growing concern among tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists that 5G causes Coronavirus, some have even shown their frustration by defacing telecommunication towers.

Daily Update: Monday April 6

Today, the Ruby Princess cruise ship docked south of Sydney, 250 crew are currently waiting for test results. The government has also further ruled out extending the wage subsidy to cover more casual workers. Globally, UK PM Boris Johnson was unfortunately admitted to hospital overnight due to COVID symptoms. A teenage learner driver who is new to being behind the wheel was slammed with a fine of $1652 for being too far from home.

Weekend Update: Sunday April 5

Today, daily case numbers have continued to decrease, with the curve flattening. Daniel Andrews announced the school year may be extended in order for Year 12s to get university admission scores. The NSW government continues to defend their mismanagement of the Ruby Princess, with an 11th passenger dying. Brendan Murphy confirmed that the Easter Bunny is a sole trader and an essential service, raising the question, is the Easter Bunny truly nonpartisan?

Daily Update: Friday April 3

Today, cases have just tipped over 1 million globally, the global positive count has doubled in the past 8 days. Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Brendan Murphy, believes global cases could actually be as high as 5-10 million. The government will release details of their Covid-19 modelling on Tuesday. WA Premier has also confirmed that he finds it hard to believe that someone would go for a run and stop for kebab.

Today, the Federal government announced a $1.6 billion free childcare program for Australian parents who are essential workers. A third cancer patient has died at the Alfred, the nations death toll is now at 24. Globally, case numbers are rapidly approaching 1 million and deaths are approaching 50,000. In distressing news for some, Byron Bay has now been (all but) closed to backpackers with all busses being stopped.

Globally, Spain has passed 100,000 cases and the UN has labelled it at the worst crisis since WW2 In lighter news, Victoria Police are now 'two tired’, conducting their spot checks and patrolling on bikes.

Daily Update: Tuesday March 31

Today, the cases continued to rise within Australia but Greg Hunt says “we are now flattening the curve” showing that the social distancing measures are working, and we must keep them up! The government has struck a deal with private hospitals to merge them into the public healthcare system, providing an extra 34,000 beds. On the bright side, if you need to visit any essential services at Tullamarine, the Airport is waiving parking fees for the next 3 months, saving you thousands of dollars!

Victoria has led the nation in enforcing Stage 3 lockdown measures, people face fines of up to $1600 for breaching these rules. Daily Update: Friday March 27

Today we saw the number of locally transmitted cases jump in Victoria from 9 to 16. All travellers returning from overseas from Saturday night will now be quarantined in hotels paid for by states. In other news, a 65-year old woman returning from Bali has been fined $1000 for breaching her quarantine restrictions, she claims she was unaware that she had coronavirus in her boogieboard bag.

Press Conference Updates

The Prime Minister delivered a 52 minute press conference with his Chief Medical Advisor. Below are the key points:

•) Indoor gatherings of any size were cautioned heavily against, with specific restrictions for weddings, funerals, and 'house parties'.

•)"Going out for exercise, perhaps with your partner or family members, provided it’s a small group, that’s fine"

•) In further devastating news tanning salons will be shut from midnight on Wednesday, yet hairdressers to remain open.

•) The previous advice against overseas travel has now become a ban, with certain exemptions.

•) Schools will remain open, consistent with medical advice. However, will see closures in the coming days to plan for distance learning.
