Weekend Update: Tuesday April 7

Today, the Andrews government confirmed that Year 12 exams will be postponed until at least December and that learning for most students will be online for Term 2. The Federal Government also released two papers relating to their modelling of the disease, we have attached the link below. In other news, there is growing concern among tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists that 5G causes Coronavirus, some have even shown their frustration by defacing telecommunication towers.

Today, cases have just tipped over 1 million globally, the global positive count has doubled in the past 8 days. Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Brendan Murphy, believes global cases could actually be as high as 5-10 million. The government will release details of their Covid-19 modelling on Tuesday. WA Premier has also confirmed that he finds it hard to believe that someone would go for a run and stop for kebab.

The Prime Minister delivered a 52 minute press conference with his Chief Medical Advisor. Below are the key points:

•) Indoor gatherings of any size were cautioned heavily against, with specific restrictions for weddings, funerals, and 'house parties'.

•)"Going out for exercise, perhaps with your partner or family members, provided it’s a small group, that’s fine"

•) In further devastating news tanning salons will be shut from midnight on Wednesday, yet hairdressers to remain open.

•) The previous advice against overseas travel has now become a ban, with certain exemptions.

•) Schools will remain open, consistent with medical advice. However, will see closures in the coming days to plan for distance learning.
