MIXTAPE GOD: Lou Ottens, the Dutch inventor of the Cassette Tape, has died yesterday at the age of 94. Ottens also supervised the team that created the CD. Through Otten’s invention, music was able to be shared around the world, and the music industry reached unimaginable heights. S/O to a real pioneer in the audio Industry. 🎙

Happy International Women’s day & Women’s History Month. This month we’ll be highlighting women in media, both past and present. Up first is someone you may not know, but should! Hedy Lamarr. While she is mostly known for her lustrous acting career, she was also a talented inventor. During World War II, together with George Antheil, she invented a new communication system with the intention of guiding torpedos. It wasn’t until three years before her death, that she received acknowledgment for her invention. Echoes of Lamarr’s breakthrough can be seen in today’s Bluetooth, cellular communications, and Wi-Fi technologies.

Associated Students is looking to recruit 10 students to create art installations for the Rhythms Music Festival in Spring 2020 –– this opportunity would count as an internship, and you'll receive credit!
