Ink Monkey Magazine & More Currently Accepting for: 5 anthos, IMM, and Blots! - Check our website for more info. As always, check out our website for more information.

We were founded in 2009 as a literary magazine and have since expanded to be much more. Ink Monkey Magazine is a literary magazine dedicated to the advancement of good writers, regardless of past publishing credits. Blots is a literary zine dedicated to the cheap or free distribution of wickedly cool writing. We also do a number of special projects including, but not limited to, poetry chapbooks, themed anthologies and charity projects.

I know that the page has been quiet for a while and that's because of several reasons. Let's just say that between life and technology, I'm amazed I've gotten anything done.

That excuses nothing, of course. But still.

The good news is that 1000 Words and BLINK! have both been sent to the printer and I am awaiting a proof (electronic) for each of them. Those should be approved by the week's end.

We are also working on a joint project with Amoeba Ink called The Tomato Anthology. It is scheduled to launch on August 7.
The next issue of the magazine is almost ready as well, and we hope to launch that in the next couple weeks.

Good News:

Amazon has all Ink Monkey titles on sale. If you're looking for last minute holiday gifts, they can still ship in plenty of time for Christmas.

Okay, guys. I don't know if there's an issue getting the files out of Submittable, but since not everyone is having this issue, I'm chaking it up to submitters. Look, I know you have a way you think your MS should look or whatever, but I quite assure you that I will be changing most things about it - the font, the size, the indent, etc. So when you do s**t like hitting the tab button in front of paragraphs and hitting enter twice between paragraphs or whatever else, I have to go through manually and take that crap out. I've spent the last hour taking out formatting crap that I have asked repeatedly to not have - on THREE short stories. This is why everything takes so long. IMM isn't Random House or Penguin books. There aren't interns to send these to to be fixed. And we don't have time to sit around and wait to send it back to an author and wait for them to fix it.
So just don't, okay?
Please?

Okay. The stuff for BLINK! is sitting with the very pregnant assistant editor right now. Once she approves it, I can finish the pdf and give it to the printer. Which means *then it will be done* (so everyone get on Catherine's case about it)...

In the meantime, I've started the file for 1000 Words. Fixing unfortunate layout issues right now. Then on to better things.

While I am at it, I'd like to be able to put out the first volume of Around the World in 80 Stories, but I don't have enough yet. So, you know, start submitting.

Tedium, tedium. Whatever would I do without you...
Title, name, page number...
title, name, page number...
title, name, page number...

*giggle*

19/09/2013

The layout issue I had with BLINK! is now solved. Expect publication by the end of the month, followed by 1000 Words asap!

07/09/2013

Ever have news that you really really really want to talk about but you can't because details are still being ironed out? I'm sort of in that boat.

03/08/2013

I'm out of town right now, but I am still working on stuff for you guys. Layout still underway for 1000 Words and Blink!, but the good news is that I may have figured out how to fix Blink!, so...
Don't forget that we still have quite a few calls for subs open, and I need submissions, so write stuff!

22/06/2013

What are you reading right now?

22/06/2013

Don't forget that there are still lots of open categories for submission!

21/06/2013

Okay, everyone. The mag is done, but I am having layout issues with Blink! that I not only don't understand but can't get any of my tech savy friends to figure out. I am going to finish 1000 words first and then go back to Blink! because I think I need to step away for a bit before either I get an ulcer or the finished product looks like crap. Nobody wants that.

06/06/2013

If what I did today is any indication, I am apparently too stupid to do layout. Considering after 10+ hours of it, I have to do it all again. I promise that I'm *trying* to get this antho finished.

05/06/2013

Redoing everything that a well-meaning friend undid when I asked for help on something totally unrelated. Once I get *that* done, then Blink is done. It'll take a few hours, but it could be as soon as today.

22/04/2013

...checking over the proof is probably the most boring job in the world. And I have found an issue that needs fixed. Once *that* is done, IMM5 will be ready to print. *sigh* Also, Yay.

21/04/2013

Special thanks to Herika for helping me with the biologies tonight. *giggles* (Don't hit me.)

20/04/2013

...okay, thought for sure I had lost something very important. Found it in the seventh least likely spot for it to be. I was worried there for a minute. Now if I can finish the project without a panic attack, I'll be good...

20/04/2013

Just checked the subs. Apparently BLINK! will come next since there are fewer steps involved in getting it published...

20/04/2013

Okay...
I shut the laptop and took myself to the movies and came back and everything worked beautifully. SO, I am waiting for the printer to come back with the A-Okay and then all will be done for Issue 5.

Now that issue 5 is done, I will be able to turn my attention to BLINK! and 1000 Words, which I will more than likely work on concurrently, since I hate feeling trapped under a project and my ADD kicks in anyway. (Squirrel)

After those, I'll be reading subs again and I am also working on a private project for Ink Monkey as well.

19/04/2013

After I shove my laptop up zuckerberg's ass because facebook sucks so damn bad today, I will do the same to my printer, since their website is not playing nicely on EITHER of my computers. I just want to finish the gorrham magazine!

31/03/2013

Sometimes I wish we could require comprehensive exams for people just to interact with them. Bill Engval's sign is not appropriate/adequate in all circumstances

05/03/2013

There's something really awesome about being sick. When I'm supposed to be focussed on work and getting stuff done and playing Full Bloom on FB takes too much brain power. . .

13/02/2013

Lots of calls for subs open. Can't wait to see what y'all can come up with.

12/02/2013

How's everyone doing? Getting writing done? I hope so!

22/01/2013

The next antho I want to announce is (for now called) Holiday Dozen (I'm sure that is a working title). I am looking for mushy-feel good holiday stories. Aiming for winter (at least here in America) holidays, but I don't care what they are. Its okay if there's a religious note to the stories (most Winter holidays are religious ones), but they shouldn't be religious stories (if that makes sense). Fiction or creative non-fiction are allowed. What I am looking for is the spirit of the holidays - family coming together, great warm and cozy moments, etc.
ALSO for this antho - I am looking for recipes. I want each recipe to include a note as to why it's a favorite holiday recipe. (Gramma made this cheescake once a year and... )

Both forms are up on the submittable form.

21/01/2013

I'll be announcing another antho soon...

20/01/2013

I can always tell if I'm reading subs from the US or the UK based on how things are quoted "USA" vs 'UK' or how words with the letter z/s in them are spelled. Not complaining because I love subs from all over the world, but it's funny that it's so easy to tell without slang words.

19/01/2013

Buried twenty feet deep in the slush pile. Some of you will be happy today.

13/01/2013

There are 175 people that like this page. Getting ya'll to post on here is like nailing jello to a tree. Just sayin'.

10/01/2013

Website somewhat updated, although the bios section is about a year out of date (hey, some things are more important)

10/01/2013

Also up on the submittable form:
The Whisper of A Kiss (Anthology)

Romance Novelettes/Novellas 7.5k-40k
Max of 10 pieces or 200k words for the whole project
