Not comics related: So there was a tornado in my city today and while I have tons of pictures from the destruction (check out probably anyone talking about Rome NY or Oneida County) but truly the creepiest and most uncomfortable part is the city after dark with about 2/3rds of it without power.

There's got to be a clinical name for fear of empty voids and cities right?

We've got a new endeavor happening soon(ish)! A new magazine! Yes, it's mostly because some of us miss Wizard Magazine but hey, this is fan-fueled and fan-made!

Currently working on the of (should be up next week) and I kinds love that the Master of Kung Fu starts with the creative team trying to mug Shang Chi. That's Jim Starlin, Steve Englehart and Al Milgrom in order right to left looking as '70s as possible.

On this day in 1938 the first superhero entered our atmosphere via the imaginations of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He gave us someone to believe in, not because of his great physical power, but because of his character and determination to do right no matter what. Happy Superman Day to all of you!

Finally got around to making a video version of the Then and Now of Alan Scott: The Green Lantern. That Title History really took a toll. And also never going to use Clipchamp to make a 30+ minute video again.

But got to admit it's still a fantastic series that every comic fan should have hard copies of and have on their pull list!

DC

The first of the audio-only episodes being brought to the main YouTube channel, and it's one that absolutely upset some people because of the conclusion. So ...

Okay, I don't support AI for anything other than cheap novelty (and art reference but there's a can of worms and a half). However, my sons did have a little bit of fun with my The Comic Archivist avatar so... might as well share (you can tell the AI because there's some WTFery)

Damn. Now I wish they actually did this in the '90s for the X-Men show. All I have is the black box Pride of the X-Men tape. Hmph.

New episodes, new era.

FINALLY! I finally decluttered enough to get the Then And Now done! Yes, the Then is Chuck Dixon's first issue of Vol. 1 and Kelly Thompson's vol 5 (with the Title History talking about everything in between as always!

Give it a listen to hear one of the biggest fan-favorite talked about in reverence with some minor state of comic fandoms thrown in. Got to dig DC when it comes to this book!

Support the Now! comic BIRDS OF PREY #1 written by Kelly Thompson, art by Leonardo Romero, colors by Jordie Bellaire and lettes by Clayton Cowles! Yes, try as I might, history is history and while I could have started at the one-shots, I set a precedent with Spectacular Spider-Man and Su***de Squad....

Yes, it began as a First Issues NOW! then it grew into becoming a full (our longest to date), but I absolutely love the new comic so it was a blast to do a bit of a deep dive (even if most of Alan Scott's history is 'and this is what the is doing).

It's epic. It's awesome. And it pi**ed off some of the right grifters :P Got to love Tim Sheridan, Cian Tormey, Matt Herms, and Lucas Gattoni (now one of my favorite creative teams at DC)

Yes, the Internet goaded me into it. Yes, the Title History is basically 75% JSA. Yes, the conclusion is very related to the current state of the comic community (and those that leech off it)... TL;DR - Comics have always been a vehicle for socially minded storytelling, despite what the New Wave Wer...

Of course its' the and since I'm a fan, I don't care about , I do care about so I definitely have to go deep-deep into Issue #1!

Naturally, since it's the 5th of November, no one cares about Guy Fawkes Day but boy howdy did the Internet eat up the Wachowskis adaptation of V For Vendetta. The original though... is very different. Yes, I may finalize the full deepest of dives into this (A Comic A Day versions are available)

I absolutely love the fact that we've hit a stage where anime is okay. Not just okay (it's been a growing market) but Luffy is going to be a balloon for Thanksgiving... although I'm starting to get the "my parents like it" sort of push but I'm tentatively happy.
