I saw a tiktok once about a mom no longer letting go of her kids hugs first.
Since then I stopped letting go first until my kids initiated and boy does it feel kind of beautiful.

We made Homemade blueberry bagels tonight.
I even costed the top with a little bit of fresh duck egg.
Let me tell yah, CHEFS KISS.

Recipe:
297g Water
10g Yeast
23g Sugar
Give a stir and let rest for a few minutes
500g Bread Flour
1/2 TSP Salt
2 TBS Brown Sugar
1 TSP Cinnamon
A dash of nutmeg
3/4 Cup of dried blueberries

-Let the dough rise for an hour once you mix it and let it rise again for 30 minutes after forming your bagels.
-Set them in a boiling water bath with honey for 1-2 minutes each and pop them in the oven at 425 till golden brown and ENJOY.

A lot of people ask me how I have so many animals and kids.
How do you introduce the fosters?
How do you get the kids to be kind to the animals?

All I can say is a whole lot of trial and error. We talk about how important it is to be kind to the animals, respect their boundaries, and teach the animals the same thing.
it takes time. But it really is worth it in the end.
Kids and animals are the BEST combo!
Do you have animals and kids?

Our is being adopted THIS weekend!!!
A lovely adopter is excited to make her their own.
I cant believe this girl went from being a stray to being ADOPTED within a few short weeks!
I’m so excited for her!!

Our little stray kitten is almost adoption ready.
This girl was found by a kind human and she has loved being with us.
The kiddos love her (the dogs not so much)
But she is a gem of a girl.
I cant believe she was living outside before this.
I mean what’s not to love about this face?!

We have a new foster!
Say hello to Korilou.
A really sweet human found her as a stray and she is now in the rescues care.
W stool her in as a foster and she’s been a gem of a girl.
Beyond talkative and eager to make friends with our home. We adore her!
She will be on the hunt for a family in no time!

Veterans Day.
I always have mixed emotions about this day.
Here’s to celebrating the sacrifice so many men and women have made.
But at the same time remembering that our country fails veterans almost daily.
They deserve so much more.

April 2020.
A piece of history.
What would usually be an adorable photo now makes me so sad to look at.

My husband is a nurse in the army.
In this photo he was visiting our daughter through a window after a long day at work.
There was minimal PPE at this point of the pandemic.
So he quarantined in our garage for several weeks in order to keep us safe.
We had no idea what was going on or what was to come.
What a scary time.

We have welcomed foster #3 (after having kids)to the house.
Babygirl has already decided he is hers.
Yes. Taking him away will probably result in tears when it has to happen.
But we talk often about the importance of helping these animals.
How desperately they need the safe place to land.
And how cool it will be to see them get their “furever.”
Being a parent AND foster parent is all sorts of cool.
I’m so proud of my tiny humans.

I’ve had two little foster babies pass through my home these past few weeks.
Both kept us on our toes.
But it was worth it.
And I’d honestly do it again.
And again.
Just to see peaceful freedom rides like this.

Now I have two tiny humans watching.
And I don’t give a damn what people have to say about who I am.
My life is meant to be lived for ME.
So here I am.
Disney. Turkey leg in hand not caring about anything.
I am me.
And I am wonderfully made.

I’m grateful I get to be a part of it.

Animals have always been my comfort zone.
I prefer them over people sometimes.
I remember growing up people told me that I needed to go to school. Work a “normal” job.
But here we are. Years later I am working in Animal rescue.
I’m glad my career path has been anything but normal.

Becoming a mother doesn’t stop you from living your life.
I Remember when I first had my kids so many people told me my life would be over. That it would change so much. They said I wouldn’t be able to live freely the way I’m used to.

And you know what? It did change.
I now hold two tiny hands as I explore the world.
I watch the beauty of it all through a different lense.
And boy am I grateful that I do.
I don’t let motherhood or being a military spouse stop me from living.
I throw my kids in a stroller. Strap on a backpack. And get rolling.
If I can do it. So can you.

I was once told that I was “to much.”
That my passions were annoying.
I was never enough. Or had to much baggage to carry.
So I found a man with bigger hands.

My husband.
Loving on our most recent foster dog. Saying goodbye even though he asked to keep her day one.
He has minimal interest in the world. He’s in the military and prefers doing other things.
But he still stands by my side every late night and p**p filled kennel.
Always there ready to tackle the mess.
So. I’ll say it again.
Find someone with bigger hands.
