Hey everyone. I figured I would give you an update since I haven't really been live lately. As you have probably heard, I got the keys to my new house and started moving in with the help of several people, including Michaela Wright who flew in from Oklahoma just to help me!! I have had a few bumps in the road along the way....to put it lightly. Things have been going wrong since the first day that I got the keys. I figured I would give you a full update, in case you missed everything that has happened.
The first day I got the keys to the house, I got a flat tire. The day after that, my oil light came on. I hired my contractor to paint, but I ended up having to paint all the rooms besides the kitchen and utility room myself, because it was going to cost close to $2000 just to have some walls repaired, ceilings painted, and the walls painted. I ended up paying him $1000 for the work that he did do. So, I went in and painted everything myself (paint and supplies cost $600). When Michaela got here, we got a carpet cleaner ($80) and she did the whole house. Things were starting to pick up and go smoothly, then my basement flooded. Had to buy a wet/dry shop vac and a large fan ($150).
Originally, I thought the flooding happened from snow melting and there being a crack in the foundation....and that being ground water that came inside. Turns out I was wrong....I'll get to that part soon. So, I decided to have someone come look at the pipes and the septic tank, and it was close to max capacity so I had to get that pumped ($350).
In the middle of the whirlwind of everything happening, my friend whom I have known since 7th grade went into cardiac arrest at 42 years old and was put on life support for 5 days. He had no brain activity and the difficult decision was made by his mother to donate his organs to gift of life. This blow was one of the hardest things to happen to me out of everything. He was such a good person, and I am still so devastated over his loss.
The same day the septic got pumped, the movers came to get my large furniture out for me ($425). I was starting to feel a little better about everything, and then last night I gave my daughter a bath and when she drained the tub, the shower overflowed. I plugged the tub, cleaned the water from the floor with several towels and then I could hear dripping....in the basement again. When I went down there, water (sewage) was flooding from pipes in two separate places.....to say the plumbing in this house was shoddy is an understatement. Thankfully, my kids father works for a drain company, so he came out and looked at my drain to see what was up with it. I called my home warranty and they said it was covered. He did his work, we discovered that within the foundation, there is a reduction from PVC pipe to cast iron pipe....and that is impossible to see from the basement. It's literally in the ground on the other side of the foundation wall. So, now, I am waiting to hear back from the company who will have to excavate the pipe and replace it and all the other crappy PVC pipe that was leaking in the house. It's going to cost me thousands. I had planned on using my tax returns this year to put gutters on the house.....so much for that. I am not in my house right now, because I had to dump 2 gallons of bleach in the basement to disinfect from where the water was pooled on the ground....and I couldn't breath. I had to crack windows, crank up the fan again, and grab my animals and go to a friends house. Bleach kills me.
My friend's funeral is Sunday, my sister was going to watch my girls for me while I went.....and then her son got covid. My mom has been in contact with him, so she's quarantined now as well until she gets test results back. So now, I have nobody to watch my girls so I can attend my friends funeral.
So, I believe that catches everyone up. It's been hell the past 2 weeks and I am feeling like I am hanging on by a thread. I feel like I could sleep for a whole day at least.
I may have lost monetization due to lack of streaming, but Comcast was a pain in the neck about my services getting transferred, so hopefully I have them by Saturday. In the meanwhile, if anyone wants to help out with anything, I am posting my links below for donations. I also created a registry for housewarming gifts, things I need or want for the house.
If you're still reading this, thank you for listening....thanks for being patient with me and understanding that this has been a very difficult process and I'd rather be streaming Assassin's Creed and hanging with you all.
I hope you're all doing well.....I miss you!
