I had a couple of people ask me on IG how I recorded and processed my drums so I made a quick video of the basics. This is how I record in one session and then chop it up. Simple stuff but a good workflow.

Hope it helps, Stu

This is a mixing and mastering service specifically aimed at hardware producers and dawless jammers. The skills in taking live recordings to a releasable standard are different from standard mastering. Often, there are many problems to be fixed or worked around. Missing bass, phase issues, endless 40 minute mixes that need chopping apart, compression issues, noise, distortion, parts that are out of sync.

I'm a hardware producer and have been since the mid-90s. I've made all of these mistakes a million times over.

Through working with mchnwrks, and my label partner Owen we've seen most of the problems over the last few years and produced and worked on thousands of recordings. Some could not be recovered, some were tweaked and many were moulded into tracks that stand up to modern recordings when played in clubs.

Most mastering services will not take your rough recordings, and if they do they don't have the experience to work out what to do with them. They are used to getting work that's 99% done and polishing. (This is exactly what mastering should be for!)

I look at it differently and will take your jams and recordings and work with you to produce the best versions of these either just for your personal satisfaction, or for shopping to labels.

Questions on how to do this? Just send me a message or email.
All the best, Stu.
