KT Rolster slams LCK officials, then quickly apologizes right after

It’s day three of Valorant Champions 2022 and fans finally got to see South Korean powerhouse DRX grace the stage in Group D’s opening match against Brazilian representatives FURIA Esports.

Winning both VCT 2022: Korea Stage 1 and Stage 2 Challengers, the reigning champions of their region have much more to prove after stagnant 5th-6th place finishes at VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters Reykjavík and Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen earlier this year.

However, on the first map, Ascent, DRX did not look like themselves at all.

Starting off on attack, they dropped eight consecutive rounds to FURIA before committing four ultimates on B just to claw back one round. They managed to scrap another two rounds on attack off the back of their last player standing, putting themselves at 9-3 at halftime — a curse that eventually blessed them.

KT Rolster first called out LCK officials for the “ambiguity of the rulebook” during the second game of the LCK Regional Qualifiers 2022 against DRX before making a public apology.

These two teams were competing in round one of the ongoing regional finals. The winner would move on to round two to face Liiv Sandbox for a chance to qualify for Worlds 2022 while the loser will meet the end of their season.

After dropping game one, KT Rolster attempted to make draft adjustments in the second game. However, when it was mid laner Lee “VicLa” Dae-Kwang’s turn to select a champion, there was a moment of silence during the broadcast — he had accidentally clicked the random pick button and locked in off-meta champion, Zyra.

A legit profession': House rep eyes larger esports influence in PH

With the rise of the gaming community in the Philippines, a member of Congress vowed to combat the stigma surrounding the esports industry and gaming.

Pangasinan 4th district Rep. Christopher "Toff" de Venecia told ABS-CBN News that esports athletes are sometimes not seen as legitimate professionals since video games are often viewed "like a vice, as a distraction [or] as a form of gambling."

"[A]pplying for visas is always so difficult (for esports players). Hindi naiintindihan ng tao [at tatanungin sila ng] 'Athlete ka ba?" o 'Ano? Esports athlete?'" said de Venecia.

Filipino esports teams have faced challenges in participating in international tournaments as their visa applications or travel documents are sometimes denied or delayed due to them not being recognized as the country's representatives.
