As a youth, Lenton’s church held a “Sunday School Storyteller” Competition. Faculty had to come up with a unique way to retell Bible stories, kids would vote on who they wanted to hear from again the next week. So on. So forth. Thank you Lord.

Lenton came up with Grandma Montez Vontavious Porter. GMVP. Shaved his legs and arm pits. Crossdressing. He would tell Gender Swapped Bible Stories and have other adults crossdress along with him. When the stories got too confusing he’d pretend to lose his hearing and decide he might as well just throw candy to all the kids.

Needless to say, he won the tournament and this character was a huge part of his church life for years. Religion is weird. But sometimes fun.
