Here is the latest HRRR model simulated radar for the next 24 hours. Let me stress that this is forecast radar...but it does give us an idea of how tomorrow's storms will form to our west overnight, then move east into the San Antonio and Austin area around 8am.
I'll have a complete post within the next hour but I thought this animated GIF was interesting.

9-16-19-22. 8:30am-This random earth science 101 update is brought to you by Dietz-McLean Optical. I shot this cool video of Steamboat Geyser in Yellowstone Park yesterday on my vacation. This was the first time since June that it erupted and we just happened to be in the area when it did. It is the worlds tallest geyser, sending steam up to 300 feet high. From the distance it looks a little like a tornado, without the rotation.
7-29-22. 2pm update...we will have a couple of rounds of Saharan dust moving through in the next week. The first plume arrives over the weekend and the next, towards the end of next week.

5-23-22. 11am update. Below is a GIF from the latest HRRR radar model simulating what may happen over the next 36 hours. It predicts a big area of storms to develop this afternoon across the border, then move eastward overnight. After a lull on Tuesday, more storms move in during the night with the arrival of a cool front. Times on the model are based Zulu time, so subtract 6 hours when determining what time storms will move through our area.
5-20-22. 9:20am update. While most of us will see some beneficial rain over the next week, please be patient! Starting today, there will be a chance for rain for almost a week, but you may only see rain for a couple of days at your given location. Here is the latest animated model run from the NWS for rainfall totals for the next 7 days. Best odds will be Monday and Tuesday of next week.
5-18-22. 6pm update...More good news! Thanks to a cool front that will slide south of San Antonio, then stall, our predicted Saharan dust storm will be sent into the SE instead of Texas!
4-4-22: 10am update...While our odds for getting any rain at all is low, there is a chance for wildly scattered severe storms this evening for south-central Texas. This latest HRRR radar forecast shows storms forming around Del Rio tonight and moving eastward during the night.
