Thunderhead
Sometimes the monsoons bring a beautiful sight. Tonight a Thunderhead (cumulonimbus) cloud moved slowly across the western sky. Maybe less beautiful if you are right underneath it.
Another day with heavy rain and lightning. More is coming throughout the week. This rain left some areas without power.
Williams just got hit with the hardest rain and lightning of the monsoon season so far. Northern Arizona is in a flood watch until 9 p.m. The chance of rain tonight is 60 %. Tomorrow through Saturday the chance of rain is between 80 and 90% dropping to about 50% overnight during the period. The rains are expected to lighten up starting Saturday night. We remind everyone to Turn Around, Don't Drown, as the National Weather Service does. If you come across water crossing the road, don't cross it. It appears that we got about 2" from this rainfall, so far, and more coming.
Williams experienced the perfect storm last night. Not too much lightning. The 0.1" of rain received doused the streets and should ensure that we can have the fireworks display this year. There was a dumping of hail also. More rain on the way, even.
Rain has come. It started light about 2:45 along with hail. By 3 p.m., rain was heavy. By about 3:10, the first wave passed.

After a thunderous rain storm that pelted Williams with BB-sized hail, some kids had to get out to enjoy the first snow of the season--limited though it was. The temperature started out at 22-degrees at about 7 a.m. and rose to only about 40 thanks to an overcast sky all day. The good news is that the skies should clear starting tomorrow and temperatures should rise to the lower 50s during the day dropping to 23- to 33-degrees at night until at least Friday.
The Vikings are home. The Homecoming Day parade just went through.

Rain finally hits Williams. This is the heaviest rain we received since the monsoon season started. It started with small hail followed by a squall. Currently thunder is augmenting the storm.
The weather service missed it. It snowed today downtown. Well, from one cloud, anyway.
