STILLLL on hiatus. But I'll be working on new episodes for the fall so stay tuned. Maybe go back and listen to any you've not heard yet?
I don't want to spoil what's at the World War II Home Front Museum...but here's some photos of things you'll see. First, blackout instructions.
Fortunately I'm not as late as I was last month! New (short) episode is up.
I hit the beach (sort of) and visit this small but neat and interactive museum focusing on the homefront experience in Georgia's coastal communities during World War Two.
Latest podcast is up, finally!
Kicking off a new season of podcasts with a trip to Savannah to see an amazing private collection of military artifacts, housed in the Webb Military Museum.
Forgot to post a little reading list...
Delta: The History of An Airline by Lewis and Newton. Lengthy but a quick read.
Delta Airlines: 75 Years of Airline Excellence by Geoff Jones. A pictorial history which is well done.
Together We Fly: Voices From the DC-3 by Julie Boatman Filucci. Not about Delta specifically rather about the DC-3 and the experiences of everyone from designers to pilots to flight attendants. I enjoyed it.
Episode 15...The Delta Flight Museum!
Ahead of my summer break from podcasting, I travel to the outstanding Delta Flight Museum, right next to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport...where there is something for everyone.

Join me for a fun trip to learn about Delta Airlines' and Georgia's aviation history. Ready when you are!
"Prowling The Peach State" is a podcast that focuses on Georgia (USA) history...with history used loosely here. We'll often go off the beaten path, hence "prowling".
Podcasts will debut on the 1st of January, February, March, April, and May, and then August, September, October, November, and December. Video previews and other stuff will often appear here!

Had several questions from listeners and didn't answer them this month since the episode was longer than expected. But here they are...
-Now that you have done this for a while, what are some of the challenges you still face doing the podcast?
There's two main challenges. One is what to do when I don't hear back from a location that I'd like to feature. That happens somewhat often. I don't understand it, but because the format generally calls for an interview, I can't really just "show up". So that can be frustrating. Some places I have contacted 4 or 5 times.
The second challenge is just finding the time necessary to produce each episode. It can be time consuming between the background research, travel, time for the visit, and then the actual production of the episode. Some of them fall together quickly, some do not.
-Do you plan on doing anymore Civil War topics?
Yep!
-Does your dog go with you on every visit?
Nope, but she will go with me frequently. Just depends on the distance, timing of the trip, etc. She is always ready to go though, for sure :)

Super Mini lesson plan for Georgia State Railroad Museum...
-Why was the railroad so important?
-Look at the Hobo Signs sheet. Why would people traveling the rails have used and needed these signs?
-Why would poorer people usually live in the rail and industrial neighborhoods?
