From April 30, 2024, your spouse or common-law partner could qualify for an open work permit if you have a valid study permit and are:

• Pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree
• In an eligible pilot program
• Enrolled in specific professional degree programs listed here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/help-your-spouse-common-law-partner-work-canada.html

Your spouse or common-law partner must submit one of the following documents to confirm your enrollment in a study program:

• A valid letter of acceptance from your designated learning institution (DLI)
• A proof of enrollment letter from your DLI
• Transcripts from your current program

If you’re part of an eligible pilot program, they must also provide proof of your participation. Additionally, they will need to provide other documents, such as proof of their relationship to you as the student.
