Now, this is pretty wild. If you ever decide to visit the small town of about 219 people in Whittier, Alaska, you will enter through a one-lane tunnel. If that isn’t weird enough, most of the residents live in this one condo, where you can see the whole town from the top floor. This building even has a grocery store and other amenities inside. It’s like you never have to leave. Pretty creepy, right?

According to scientists from Stanford University the person who will live 200 years has already been born. Although it might sound crazy, it is expected that at some point there will be enough advancements in medical technology and genetics, that will likely help to further prolong the human lifespan way past the life expectancy we are familiar with today. Incredible!

When you dive deep into the deepest parts of the ocean, you will find hydrothermal vents on the seafloor. These vents release water that can be as high as 400 degrees Celsius. Hydrothermal vents are pretty similar to underwater geysers. When cold sea water slips into the separated tectonic plates, it becomes heated as it interacts with hot magma and other minerals. This water doesn’t reach boiling point because of all the pressure, and instead, explodes upward very much like a chimney.

This is wild. The ocean is so huge and vast, it makes sense, after all, that we haven’t even scratched the surface. Less than 5 percent of the ocean has been explored so there is still so much that needs to be discovered. What’s even crazier is that humans have better maps of Mars than they do of our oceans. Mars happens to be 50 million miles away, while our oceans are much closer. This just goes to show how much more work we have to do when it comes to understanding the deep blue sea.

Black holes don’t only exist in the vastness of space, but in our oceans as well. Scattered across the ocean floor are numerous black holes. Researchers have found eddies, circular currents of water, that are mathematically equivalent to the black holes in space. Some of these eddies can reach up to 93 miles in diameter. Researchers still don’t know their impact because they are unable to determine their true boundaries. Even scarier, nothing can escape them.
