Escalating Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip have left thousands of people dead, and the toll continues to climb, according to Palestinian health authorities.

The Washington Post, like other news organizations, the United Nations and other international institutions, cannot independently verify death tolls in the war between Israel and Hamas. News reports cite figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry — an agency of the Hamas-controlled government.

Since the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, Gaza has been closed to outside journalists. Palestinian reporters there are under extreme risk due to the conflict. Israel controls all but one crossing into Gaza, which is controlled by Egypt.

The spokesman for the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military arm, said the group would be releasing “some of the hostages” in Gaza who hold foreign citizenship, at the behest of their countries via mediators.

Foreign nationals and dual citizens who have sought to leave Gaza may be allowed to enter Egypt starting Wednesday, according to a list from Hamas border officials.

Yahoo Boy Bags One Year Term for love Scam in Kaduna

The Kaduna Zonal Command has secured the conviction of one Joshua Audu before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court on a one count charge bordering on Love scam

Joshua, who was arrested by the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVS at Brooklyn Hotel, Narayi Barnawa Kaduna on suspicion of involvement in cybercrime and handed over to the Commission for further investigation, allegedly used the social media platform, Google Chat to defraud victims whom he professed love to. He received money and gift cards as proceeds of his illicit act.

He pleaded guilty upon arraignment, leading to his conviction and sentencing to one year imprisonment or a fine of N 150,000(One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira). He is also to forfeit his Redmi 7 and iPhone 11 mobile devices to the Federal Government.

Court Convicts Innocent for Love Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Abuja Zonal Command, today, April 25, 2023, secured the conviction of one Innocent Anthony Joseph before Justice Anne Akobi of the FCT High Court Gwagwalada.

He was prosecuted on a one count charge bordering on love scam.

He pleaded guilty and was convicted by Justice Akobi, and sentenced to community service.

Lilypond Export Customs Command Processes Goods Worth N86 Billion, Records 118,000 Tonnage

The Lilypond Export Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, saddled with Export and Document processing for non-oil export cargoes accessing the Lagos Ports by roads, rail and barges has revealed its score card for the first quarter of 2023.

The Command which was established on the 1st of November, 2022 has Comptroller Babandede Mohammed as the Customs Area Controller and works in collaboration with the Nigerian Port Authority.

While speaking to Newsmen on the 19th of April, 2023 at the Command's Conference Room, the CAC noted that the Command processed FOB value of N86,426,279,070.59.

"Available trade statistics show that the command processed export goods worth N86,426,279,070.59 which is equivalent to free-on-board value (FOB) of $204,656,119.04," he stressed.

Babandede Mohammed also revealed that, within the period under review, the Command processed non-oil export with a total tonnage of 118,184.96.

According to him, the items processed were; agricultural produce like Cocoa Beans, Cashew Nuts, Sesame seeds, Hibiscus Flowers, Soya beans and Ginger. Other items exported were mineral resources such as Lithium Ore, Manganese Ore, and Zircon Sand to mention but a few. Manufactured goods exported are Instant Noodles, Cosmetics, Ci******es and Beverages.

"Lilypond Export Command despite being a new Command has drastically reduced delay in export processing, it makes the business of export effective and efficient since all agencies are domiciled in one place as a one stop shop. It has reduced congestion along the access roads to the port and also inside the port terminals, giving space for Import containers. It has also reduced cost of Export business."

"It has reduced the issue of contract cancellation. The issue of pilfering of cargo has been eliminated. Released containers can access the port within 48hrs for loading on to awaiting vessel. The command in collaboration with shipping lines have reduced the turnaround time of a vessel which decreases the cost of shipping. Lilypond Export Command has completely erased the issue of rejection and return of our Agro-produce which is usually caused by delay and lack of requisite phytosanitary certificates." he stated.

While thanking sister security Agencies for an excellent inter-agency collaboration, Babandede extended his profound appreciation to the CGC, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd.) CFR and his Management team for their continuous support.
