Hey there, fellow podcasters! As we all know, creating and promoting a podcast is no easy feat. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and patience to grow your audience and make a name for yourself in the industry. But what if I told you that your podcast could also help you bring in new business and grow your brand? That's right - in addition to providing valuable content to your listeners, your podcast can also be a powerful tool for building relationships and attracting new clients and customers.

Here are three ways to use your podcast to bring in new business:

📌 Focus on relationship building. Take the time to get to know your listeners and interact with them on social media and other platforms. Invite guests who are leaders in your industry and use your platform to showcase their expertise.

📌 More people are listening to podcasts, especially in Europe.
📌 Podcast isn't just for millennials. The highest growth in listeners came from people ages 13-17 and 55+
📌 People are focusing on their mental health. Spotify listeners especially are tuning into shows geared towards mental health.
📌The pandemic changed listening habits. People are increasingly listening in cars, smart speakers, and even smart TVs.
📌 Cross-promotion works. Shows with cross-promotion show growth in their shows.

For many of us in the podcasting game, slow growth is the name of the game. And there’s nothing wrong with growing slow. But you can actually be self-sabotaging your growth if you’re making these mistakes:

😩 You don’t have a marketing plan. Don’t just post without an objective! Where do you want listeners to go? Are you trying to grow a following? An email list? Make sure you have clear objectives.

😩 You aren’t creating super fans. Give your listeners reasons to keep coming back to your show! What’s one thing that’s uniquely you that you can infuse into your show?

😩 You haven’t invested in SEO. Search Engine Optimization works and can bring in listeners. Make sure you’re using keywords in your website and show notes to help people find your show.

Listener subscriber numbers can be a hard metric to nail down but having a dedicated subscriber base definitely helps with engagement. If you’re not sure how many subscribers you have, check into your hosting metrics. Or even better, have folks subscribe to your email list or Patreon membership. This gives you direct access to check in and engage with those who love your show most!

No longer are we hiding behind the phrase “But what do I know?”. In this space, host Chid Suzan is confirming our knowledge, sharing our experiences, and learning from herself and each other. BWDIK is a podcast and community where we explore our best “But start do I know” moments, in hopes that it helps you overcome yours. It’s a show about a journey of self- discovery and improvement as well as overcoming self-doubt through affirming, learning, healing.

Chid created the BWDIK podcast as an ode to the way in with people of color, especially women of color often diminish their own knowledge and experiences in spaces they may not feel completely affirmed or encouraged. Chid is an urban planner and podcaster/content creator that is merging her love for city planning and development and her passion for writing and public speaking.
