Welcome back to Chainsaw History’s limited series, "No Time For Love Doctor Jones,” where Jamie Chambers guides his unconvinced sister Bambi through the thrilling and controversial life of Indiana Jones. This time they travel to Florence, Italy in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles Episode 25: "Florence, May 1908."

In this installment Indy’s Mom steps out on her husband Professor Jones with legendary opera composer Giacomo Puccini. The podcasting siblings discuss the cringe-inducing story of opera, doomed romance, and a one-eyed old man hustling pool in a dive bar at noon. Watch the episode and follow along with the hosts and see the incredible shots of the Tuscan countryside and hear music from Madame Butterfly and La Boheme.

Get ready for romance, tears, and laughter as we dive into the ups and downs of cinema's most iconic archaeologist and whip-cracking hero!

Elizabeth Fry was a pioneering prison reformer, the first woman to testify before the House of Commons, and founder of a vital nursing school. Yet the '80s ValueTales kids' book series largely ignores these achievements, opting to spotlight her childhood and an imaginary butterfly instead.

Join Bambi and Jamie Chambers as they dive into this bizarre children's history book—seeking the real Elizabeth Fry amid the perplexing choices made by the ValueTales authors. Don't miss our candid and spirited discussion in today's podcast episode of Chainsaw History!

Did you know that when Indiana Jones was nine years old he was loaned a slave, donned brownface and a turban, and got captured by child slavers while trying to check out a severed head on a stick? It will take the lies and cash of a famous real-world journalist and known pe*****le to save the day!

We aren't making any of this up. It's a frankly upsetting episode of “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” from the 1990! Check out “No Time For Love Doctor Jones” by searching for Chainsaw History on your favorite podcast app!

Young Indiana Jones learns all about child abduction, slavery, and the dangers of cultural appropriation in the latest foul-mouthed exploration of the life of film's greatest whip-cracking hero!

This is the ultimate goal of "No Time For Love Doctor Jones." If we get to make the show long enough our last episodes will cover this movie ... which is literally about time travel and messing with history. It's like we planned it this way!

Wowzers! Jamie has released the very first podcast script he ever stumbled his way through on the Internet for anyone willing to click a link and get a 7-day free trial membership to the Chainsaw History website. It’s the script about young George Washington … the guy who just might have started the first global conflict in human history at an age he’d barely be old enough to buy beer today. Check out the script and read Jamie’s thoughts on how Chainsaw History burst out of his brain with an attitude problem.

Jamie's first script fresh off the turnip truck.

Jamie & Bambi were forced to read wholesome "history" books as children designed to reinforce positive values and American patriotism. They focused on weird little cartoon sidekicks for the main characters instead of bothering with anything resembling historical accuracy.

Nellie Bly (not her real name) was a glass-ceiling-shattering journalist and feminist icon. Her Value Tales book ignores some of the most interesting part of her story and work while giving her a mouse to talk to during psychotic episodes.

Listen now (77 min) | Our parents were quite big on providing us educational reading material, and one staple in our house was the ValueTales series—fictionalized biographies for kids about notable historical figures. Each book would espouse a particular virtue (a "value") demonstrated by our hero...

Holy bananas ... we've had not one, but TWO new episodes of our little podcast drop recently. Firstly we learn that the author of The Education of Little Tree (beloved by Oprah) was actually a racist terrorist who once sent K*K goons to attack Nat King Cole. (No, we did not make that last sentence up.) We hold our noses and dive back into the racism of early 20th century Alabama as we cover the life story of Asa Carter.

"Asa Carter, The Violent Racist Who Wrote a Book Endorsed by Oprah"

Did you know that the author of The Education of Little Tree and The Outlaw Josey Wales was actually Asa Carter—a white nationalist who sent members of the K*K to attack Nat King Cole on stage? He was a man so racist that George Wallace cut him loose, so Carter changed his name, lied about his past, and became a best-selling author before his own son punched him to death. Jamie and Bambi go back to segregation-era Alabama to talk about a uniquely terrible person.

In a fiery voting-rights speech in Atlanta yesterday, President Biden asked: "Do you want to be on the side of Martin Luther King or George Wallace?"

We did a three-part deep dive on Wallace—the controversial former governor of Alabama (and presidential hopeful) who was one of the most famously racist figures of the mid-20th century. Click here to give it a listen: https://player.captivate.fm/episode/1cb17352-fe18-4db5-afde-d95880e4edfe
