HAPPY SATURDAY! it’s been a while since we’ve done one of these -
1. i got professional headshots! i started reading Jenna Fischer’s book “An Author’s Life” (highly recommend to those in the creative field), and her chapter about headshots finally gave me the push to go do it. i got them done by Cathryn Farnsworth - i’ve been looking forward to shooting with her for literal YEARS, since I first met her at an afterparty. AND IT HAPPENED!
2. a couple months ago, i actively stopped wearing makeup when i went out so i could become comfortable with the “flaws” on my skin. and now, i go out without even a thought of if i should put foundation or mascara on. no makeup is now my default, and makeup is now an active choice that i make. not the other way around.
3. I LEARNED TO ROLLER SKATE! and oh my god is it a workout
4. went to Vegas and ate my body weight in crab legs
5. a picture worth a thousand memories
6. i might be getting into football???
7. i’ve been catching up on soooo much sleep. when i first moved to california, i met an actress who told me to “always listen to my body and what it needs. when it tells you to sleep, sleep.” and so i have been.
8. laughter truly is the best medicine. and honestly, it’s the best way to deal with stressful situations, too.

i wanted so badly to post this last week for the drop of Spider-Man 2 but making a giant diamond proved to be much more difficult than anticipated. soooo here it is, a week late (can we pretend like i posted this on oct 20th???)
i haven’t had a chance to play yet, but i did walk in on my friend crying while playing it last night… so i’m assuming (and not surprised) that it’s good. :)

— it felt so strange getting photographed without a full-face of makeup. and without a costume. i felt beautiful in a different way. i felt like i was authentically myself, and not a tailored version that was trying to appeal to anything or anyone.
working with Cathryn was unique and comfortable and has changed my outlook on myself and my acting career. thank you for being so wonderful

silence is a language that i’ve become fluent in.
not because i don’t think my words hold value - they do, so much - but because i want to feel at peace for a moment again. i want the world to come to a halt. there are days where i want to evaporate into thin air, just for a few hours, to escape everything that i’m supposed to care about for a while. while it may sound depressing, i hope that’s not how you interpret this. i think sometimes i’m just tired of existing at a capacity that my brain is not equipped for. sometimes, i want to sit in silence, not a thing in the world to say or explain or defend. i want to appreciate the sounds that mother nature emits and the excitement in my moms voice when she talks about the holidays. i want to exist as a simple human in a seemingly-complicated world. we can do that, and i think that is something that we take for granted quite often.

We watched the first 2 episodes of Secret Invasion, and it feels as if I’ve jumped back in time to phases 1-3 of the MCU. Nick Fury’s backstory is significant to the storytelling in this show, and it’s provided answers to what had gone unanswered for so long.
Also, we finally have Emelia Clarke in the MCU!!!

“be who your younger self needed” -
happy saturday :) i’ve been doing some writing again recently, and it’s made me realize just how different things are than they used to be. when i moved to california 2 years ago, i wasn’t confident. i was scared. imposter syndrome was on my mind what felt like every second of every day, and i never felt like i deserved what i had. and it solidified it even more when i heard that “friends” were saying out loud what was pestering my brain. i was hurting.
my move-in date was june 29th, 2021. you guys saw me go from iowa to california. the expected “influencer” path in life. what you guys didn’t see was that on june 27th, when everything should’ve been packed and i should’ve been leaving to drive to california, i was having a mental breakdown. doing anything was such a task and i couldn’t bring myself to take that next step in my life, because i didn’t even want to be alive anymore.
thankfully, i’m gifted with the presence of my parents. and they (quite literally) grabbed my hand, picked me up, and drove me to the airport. june 29th, my mom and i flew to california to move me in.
for another year and a half, i struggled. on top of hating myself, i was also gaining weight, and let me tell you: gaining weight in the public eye is not great. people are MEAN.
anyways, looking back, i still sometimes question how i managed to make it out of the headspace and the pain that i was in, but what matters is that i did. and the woman that you see in the photos above is the outcome. she is strong-willed, confident in herself regardless of what others think, and she is herself again.
she is everything that her younger self needed,
and regardless of what the future holds, i am forever proud of her.

Gender and ethnic inequality is still very real, and we must keep fighting for and supporting each other - especially when others are doing the opposite. vacation is off to a great start :) i missed u, orlando!!!

When I saw this comic cover by , I immediately fell in love with it and RAN to recreate it. After 3 hrs of makeup, struggling to find a white button down, and driving to our location, there ended up being a freshmen orientation happening. 😭 We still took photos, and yes, I was shaking the entire time (but also there was a group of girls who hyped me up and I am eternally grateful for them).
