🧐Whether you manage your social profiles or are in charge of a company's Facebook or Instagram, you might stumble upon the word ENGAGEMENT. While it has nothing to do with planning a wedding, the word engagement is quite important in the world of social media. Why? Let's dive into it!
The word ENGAGEMENT represents all interaction on your post. Whether it is a like, share, or discussion under your photo or video, everything is recorded in your analytics. The more your customers like, comment, save or share your post, the higher engagement you see.
Now, why is it so important for you?
Well, there are two reasons.
Firstly, marketing is considered successful, when the story or a picture catches the attention of a user/customer. When your followers like, save and comment under your post, it means that they are "engaged" - interested in what you are offering and ultimately, it means that you are doing something right. If your customers are interested in what you offer, then it often reflects on your sales or leads too.
Secondly, all social media is driven by algorithms - the magical word that runs our favourite places to hang out. When talking about engagement, Instagram's algorithms push posts with high engagement to the front of people's feeds - meaning that those are the first posts people see. It does not matter if you have 30K followers, if the percentage of the engagement under your post is higher than the percentage of engagement under the 30K-account post, your post will be the first one your followers will see. The same principle works with videos on Facebook, Instagram reels and posts on the "explore" page and all Tiktok videos.
