Starting the new year and decade off with some work in the bush 🐾

2020 sees myself taking on a new challenge as I officially start my journey as the owner of Tom, Dick & Harry Digital. I watched my dad start the company as a side hustle in 2006 and have seen it grow into the company it is today with an annual turnover of a couple million.

In school, I would have never thought (while sifting through cv’s during a holiday to help with the recruitment services that TDH used to offer) that this company, which offered graphic design and recruitment at the time, would be the company I would start working for in 2013 and eventually become the owner of in late 2019. 2013 saw a shift in TDH’s core focus. We put our attention towards the influencer marketing space, offering a collaboration service to our strategic partners the SALT/ BYC (this is where I came in). As our strategic partner’s group grew, we started providing this service to the other influencer marketing companies they had acquired and set up - Webfluential South Africa, the Intern-Ship and Echocast Radio. It’s a great privilege for TDH to be working with the #1 Influencer Group in SA and the bunch of people involved there and we are looking forever to growing from strength to strength together in this space.

TDH (Tom, Dick & Harry Digital) are now specialists in influencer marketing collaboration and also offer paid media services in the influencer space and to companies for their branded content. I’ve got big shoes to fill, but with your guidance through the years (and likely for the next few months or years to come) Norm Calmeyer, I know I can take on this exciting challenge without too much of a worry because of the foundation that you have built and everything you have taught me! It’s an honour for me to be taking over the reins from you. Here’s to 2020 💪🏻

Five Surprising Ways Paid Media Can Amplify Influencer Marketing

INFLUENCER MARKETING and PAID MEDIA go hand in hand. With constant algorithmic changes, including paid media into your influencer marketing strategy is becoming even more important. When you already have content produced about your brand from a reliable source, why not throw paid media into the mix to ensure that content goes out to the people it will resonate the most with?

"By amplifying organic influencer posts, brands can use powerful ad tools without resorting to traditional ad content. Paid social media boosting lets brands get more from their influencer marketing investment: Their message is shaped and shared by influencers who are both trusted sources and experts in content creation, and it's ultimately exposed to an even larger, more targeted audience" - http://bit.ly/2D9tANB.

When you put paid social behind influencer content, you can help ensure that it reaches the people you want it to.

As an influencer collaborator I get to work with a lot of brands who get to experience the power and benefits of influencer marketing. I also get to work with a lot of great content creators who get paid to use their influence on a daily basis. Webfluential South Africa has been around for the past 16 months (although Webfluential global has been around for a few years) and has already run over 129 campaigns paying 785 influencers. Have you registered yet?⁣

I started working on the collaboration side of things a couple months ago for Webfluential South Africa and have enjoyed the part that I've played in a couple of these campaigns. From developing briefs, assisting with content creation and interacting with the influencers it's been a great journey so far and we're only getting started!

TODAY, 16 months ago we rolled out our first campaign... Since then we have completed 129 Campaigns involving 785 Influencers. A HUGE thanks to all our loyal clients who believe in the power of as much as we do!

Working from home can benefit employers as much as employees

What's your take on this? Have you experienced the benefits that working from home can have?

"Companies are certainly catching onto the trend, and most have the flexibility to work from home, if not at all the time, at least when needed. It’s changing the way we work, especially in the tech sphere. And while it may not be for everybody, employers may find they can save money and increase productivity for some workers. And for some employees, work-from-home benefits may be the difference between an enjoyable and stressful work life". READ MORE: http://bit.ly/36kAuNa 💻

Authenticity is key to staying true to your online persona and to, well, not bullsh*t your audience. Getting paid for a piece of content shouldn’t change how you ordinarily share content and in the latest episode of my podcast series I talk all about that.⁣

So grab a cuppa and give it a listen - https://bnd.lc/nomadicnative 🎙⁣

A Nap Desk Is Exactly What You Need To Be Productive At Work

I'm all about unconventional workspaces and breaking the corporate workplace mold, but is this just taking things too far? 😂

What do you think? Yay or nay? 🤔

If you stay up at night and get up early to go to work, you know that a cup of coffee is all you crave for in order to fight the drowsiness in the morning. However, coffee in the afternoon can make you restless tense, and disrupt your sleeping pattern. And yet, you have to stay […]

Definitely in agreement with this! As a digital nomad myself, I’ve experienced the benefits of working in a flexible environment. It isn’t for everyone though and the biggest risk is that the flexibility will be abused, but it’s definitely the way the working environment is moving towards and it’s up to the company, its culture and the people they employ to ensure they find a healthy balance between progressive and traditional ways of doing the typical “9 to 5”.⁣

⁣⁣⁣
Biggest issue with working digitally is as soon as I lose connection to the internet or if a hosting server is down, I'm left stranded and there is only so much admin that you can catch up on in a 24-hour period 😓 ⁣⁣⁣

Has this happened to you? What do you do to pass the time? ⁣⁣⁣

The first episode of my podcast series is out... It's all about following a brief as an influencer. Sounds pretty straightforward but I've dealt with far too many influencers who skip this fundamental step to ensuring the content produced aligns to expectations. Give it a listen [link in bio] and let me know what you think! And yes, I know... Next one will be a lot less scripted - I promise!⁣ 😉

What is a nomadic native anyway?

In November 2013 I got my first taste of the world of influencer marketing. Since then, I have been involved in the ex*****on of influencer marketing campaigns for over 200 various brands, collaborating on more than 50,000 influencer posts. I work from wherever I can get a stable internet connection and have set up this page to share what I’m up to, the ins and outs of working as a digital nomad, and my journey as an influencer collaboration specialist.

Nomadic Native = Digital Nomad (a person who is location independent and use technology to perform their job) + Digital Native (a person born or brought up during the age of digital technology and so familiar with computers and the Internet from an early age).
