Rusty on debut ! 🏏
(20-21 Jan, Royal Exhibition Building)

After the Bluey Cricket episode won the ’s Bluey Top 100 countdown (end of November), I was inspired to build a tribute to my son’s & my favourite Bluey character.

I hope we’ve done little Rusty justice!

| LEO’S SWORDS

It’s been surreal having the wonderful friends who I have met through the Instagram LEGO community send through photos and videos of my models on display at Chicago. 😱 When I decided it’d be fun to share my passion for Ninja Turtles using little plastic bricks, I never thought it would result in multiple sets available internationally for anyone to build in their own home. 🤯🐢

Leo’s Swords were easily the most frequently requested during the time I was creating the collection.
Understandably too! People have a whole barrel of fun to swinging them around & pose with them at shows.

Having the exposed studs in the grip of the design has meant that it can be two plates thinner and sit much more comfortably in a human hand (as opposed to being designed for mutant flippers) 😅🐢

Huge thanks has to go to Lewis Meeny 🙏🏼 who was my mentor throughout the project. Without that legend, these TMNT weapons would never have become available for all on the website. 🙌🏼

| MIKEY’S NUNCHUCKS

It’s been surreal having the wonderful friends who I have met through the Instagram LEGO community send through photos and videos of my models on display at Chicago. 😱 When I decided it’d be fun to share my passion for Ninja Turtles using little plastic bricks, I never thought it would result in multiple sets available internationally for anyone to build in their own home. 🤯🐢

Mikey’s Nunchucks were the first of the four brothers’ weapons that I created. I was jealous of & swinging their lightsabers and swords around at 2022 and wanted to be able to join in at two weeks later! ⛓️

Having never designed anything like this before, the point where the chain attached to the handles really forced me to grow as a builder. 😅🫠 Both the original and final design give off a great gentle swinging effect.

Huge thanks has to go to Lewis Meeny 🙏🏼 who was my mentor throughout the project. Without that legend, these TMNT weapons would never have become available for all on the website. 🙌🏼

When I decided it’d be fun to share my passion for Ninja Turtles using little plastic bricks, I never thought it would result in multiple sets available internationally for anyone to build in their own home. 🤯🐢

Donnie’s Staff was the second of the four brothers’ weapons that I created. The design & rainbow build prototype came together in less than an hour. After all the time I spent in the backyard as a kid, swinging around a broomstick pretending to be Donatello, I couldn’t wait to create one of my own!! 🤓🐢

It was a real challenge getting my hands on enough curved slopes for the prototype so we have created a more financially accessible design to share with you all. It still has the strength of the prototype and the swooshability is sublime! 😆🐢

| RAPH’S SAI

When I decided it’d be fun to share my passion for Ninja Turtles using little plastic bricks, I never thought it would result in a set available internationally for anyone to build in their own home. 🤯🐢

Raph’s Sai was the last of the four brothers’ weapons that I tackled because he’s undisputedly the best turtle (prove me wrong) 😏 & I wanted to do him justice!

It was a real challenge finding the right combination of curved slopes & arches to recreate the iconic cartoony shape that makes Raph’s sais recognisable. I’m super happy with the result & they’re a barrel of fun to swing around. 😆🐢

MARKET HAUL!

I was very restrained (because I just paid my LUG Bulk invoice) 😅 But it’s not often that turtles are spotted in the wild! 😲🐢 I’ve been after a LEGO Batman Movie Two-Face for a while & this glorious Santa’s Little Helper was a gift given to Baby Shelf by a very kind vendor!
