One of the traditional fashion trends in northern Nigeria is the wearing of glowing robes known as “babban riga” or “malum malum”. It’s a traditional robe especially for the hausa community and it’s made of cotton, silk and it features intricate embroidery. The “babban riga “ is a product of many different hands; the spinner, the weaver, the draughtsman who designs the embroidered patterns, the embroider and the tailor who assembles all the pieces into the complete garment. it is worn for special occasions such as weddings or religious festivals and it shows the honor and dignity of the person that wear it.
