On Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th August the out of darkness team will be setting up a stall outside Iceland on bolton road not only to raise awareness but to fundraise for people battling with mental health.

On the stall there will be a tombola, a cake sale, guess the teddy’s name, guess how many sweets are in the jar and a sponsored silence to show that some people don’t speak out about their mental health.

Come and show your face, the more people the more money we can fundraise.

Yesterday, we took part in dragons den, promoting our project by discussing our future plans and what we were going to do as a team to help raise awareness for mental health.

We decided to create a dance to the song ‘human’ as we felt it solidified the idea of being human, regardless of your mindset and mental health. We felt this was a good idea as some people like to express their feelings through dance.

Our group is part of the national citizens service and part of our programme is to plan a social action project for a chosen charity.
We have decided to base our project on mental health as we feel passionate about this subject because we feel people suffering from mental health need to be reached out to.
When people ask how we are, we often reply ‘I’m fine’, even when we’re not. Our new campaign challenges this provoking young people and adults to speak out about their mental health. To support this we are setting up a stall in Blackburn town selling cakes, putting on a showcase, selling wristbands and forming a sponsored silence to raise awareness.
Therefore we have set up this page to kick start our campaign.
All money raised will go to local youth club to help challenge young people’s mental health and well-being.
