Happy Friday!

This week, we’re learning all about perry; not the platypus, but the drink, & we’re joined by Barry Masterson of , who is busy making cider and perry in Germany; tune in to learn all about its history, heritage trees and the odd ill-behaved beaver...

Join & to geek out with Barry on medieval perry songs (yes, very on-brand), how he ended up in Germany from Ireland, and some amusement about BIG PERRY - Babycham!

Perrys enjoyed in this episode included - er, well, just the same one, but in two different countries simultaneously!

- Perry/Piorraí, 6% 🇮🇪

We also talked, of course, about Barry’s cider & perry writing, Lisa’s pub blogging, and about Christina’s BOOK which is now coming very soon; keep an eye on the socials for launch parties (several in the UK, and a big Dublin one!)

Perhaps we’ll see you at one!

Cheers, as always for your likes, shares, subscriptions & support - you can find everything on our LinkTree, and we love our listeners!

It’s Friday, Podfriends! 🍻

Today, we’re thrilled to talk not just beer history, but very much current beer culture with Lars Marius Garshol on Norwegian Farmhouse Beer; come hear him bust some myths on everything from stone beer to book titles…

Join & as they ask Lars about historic brewing techniques - and learn all about ALE HENS along the way!

Beers enjoyed in this episode included:

Framgarden Farmhouse Ale - Kornøl, 9% 🇧🇻
Clancy’s Cans #12 - Nelson Sauvin IPA, 5.5% 🇮🇪

We also chatted a bit about ’s UPCOMING BOOK and ’s revived Dublin pub blog, , because we like a little shameless self-promotion, but also keep an eye out for Lars & Christina at Historic Brew Con this summer!

As always, we welcome your feedback, support, likes and shares - you can find all our links via our LinkTree. Cheers!

Happy Friday! 🍻

It’s a little over a week into the Deposit Return Scheme; are you confused? WE GOT YOU. We chat with local beer industry stalwarts Leah from & Caoimhe from .ie to find out what it means for breweries, retailers - and YOU!

While we’re all thrilled to see a recycling scheme, there are some short-term effects for beer folk here we talk through - some of your faves from the North and even some typical Polish beers may be hard to find for a while (or longer) - and you have a part to play, too:

DO NOT CRUSH CANS!

We also hear how you should be stocking up on Local Beers from Local Retailers now, more than ever (and you may find some discounts), how to do the returns effectively without a car, and why you should generally be kind as people are figuring this out (but we hope you knew that)...

Beers enjoyed in this episode included:

Body Riddle Pale Ale, 4.5% 🇮🇪
Talus in Wonderland IPA, 6% 🇮🇪
‘The Viscount’ Weizenbock, 7% 🇮🇪

Thanks, as always, for listening - now, go out and grab some local cans, find your local machine and give it a go!

You can find all our links here, and keep an eye out on our socials for more on and her new book soon!

Happy Friday!

We’re continuing our Brigid/Imbolc theme into the bank holiday weekend with NUNS & BREWING - but these aren’t your scary school nuns, these are awesome medieval nuns, and they brewed up a storm...🍻

We do namecheck Brigid again, but of course we talk HILDEGARD von BINGEN, because why would you not, and we get into People Being Wrong About Gruit...but wait, there’s more!

We’ve also got a lot going on - has her beer history book on the verge of release, is up to newish beer blog nonsense, and is being generally awesome, so you get an update on those things, too...

One quick spoiler: to Edinburgh to brew book-adjacent historic-ish beer with Closet Brewing, and got THIS AMAZING SHIRT; we like to think Hildegard would have approved of all these colours...

Thanks, as always, for listening, and keep an eye on our socials for updates on everything we’re up to - perhaps (if you’re in the UK or Ireland) there’s a book launch party in your future!

FOLKS! We are BACK!

We’re easing in to January (finally) with a new Style Series episode - BITTER. We ❤️ bitters, but we get a little provocative - are bitters and ‘Irish red ales’ really the same? Why don’t we have more bitters (by name) in Ireland? And...CASK.

, & talk history, why bitters don’t get enough love here (and why there’s so little cask in Ireland, across the board), and, of course, we namecheck past podcast guest early and often...

Beers enjoyed in this episode included (no named bitters):

Brickyard Red Ale, 4.2% 🇮🇪
Sunburnt Irish Red, 5% 🇮🇪
We’re thrilled to be back and have several other episodes in the can already - so keep an eye out! Also: more bitters, please. Don’t forget you can find all our links over at our LinkTree.
Thanks, as always, for your likes, subscribes, shares and merch buys! You’re the best! 🍻

It’s a cold Friday here in Ireland - why not take your mind off the frost with our NEW EP?

You asked for more historical topics, so this time, we welcome Dr Susan Flavin to talk early modern brewhouses & making the film about the research - ‘Drunk?’ - get the story!
& got to dust off their own history & archaeology chops - there may be some little hints for Christina’s forthcoming beer history books, too - and as always, there’s mythbusting…
Beer enjoyed in this episode included:

Bambrick’s Brown Ale, 5.8% 🇮🇪
/ Woolley Grange Alchemy Gruit, 5.2% 🇬🇧
We’d love to hear from you - any surprises about early modern beer from this one for you? Tell us!

Thanks for listening, and if you need gear to keep you warm, we got you! Linktree in bio…
