Traditionally we honor our heroes and icons during Black History Month. We stand still for a moment to commemorate their bravery, their selflessness, and their vision for an equal and just future. Their actions have had a huge positive impact for generations to come. Therefore we don’t want to honor our heroes only for one month. We want their courage to be remembered every single day.

When we commissioned this piece, we wanted to pay homage to leaders across business, arts, science & technology, and social justice, the same areas on which we take a deep dive in our documentary.

On January 1st 1863, a people were emancipated - on paper. Belatedly, two and a half years later, the last slaves were made truly free. Juneteenth is about a people set free. Today, 156 Juneteenth later, we are still struggling to fulfill that promise of true freedom. Not just from the bo***ge of slavery. Freedom of economic equality. Freedom of opportunity. Freedom of education. This Juneteenth, we redouble our efforts to realize all those freedoms.

The decision to make the Broken Chains documentary began after the tragic death of George Floyd one year ago today. If this were a perfect world, our documentary wouldn't be necessary. However, it was painfully clear to us that in a world without economic injustice, George Floyd's altercation with the police would have had a very different outcome. An undercurrent of institutional racism drove suspicion over a counterfeit $20 bill, a presumption of guilt, and an expectation of outright obedience. There is no reason a man should feel justified to kneel on another human being's neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. We ask that those who read this message take time today to reflect on the tragic and senseless loss of life and join us in the discussion on how we can move forward together.

Wow! Our interview with NFL player .beachum.jr for was spot on! We touched on sports, generational wealth, entrepreneurship and other topics related to racial justice.
