'Just a Miracle': Man Revived After Near-Drowning at New Smyrna Beach
A man was rescued and revived after becoming trapped in a rip current at New Smyrna Beach in Florida on Saturday, March 30.
Bodyworn video from Volusia Sheriff’s Office shows the man being pulled from the water and emergency crews commencing CPR.
A rip current dragged the swimmer almost 100 metres out into the ocean. He was unresponsive with no pulse when lifeguards brought him in, Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
“Thanks to the quick actions of these ocean rescue lifeguards, deputies, New Smyrna Beach FD, and the team at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, he regained a pulse and made a full recovery!” the sheriff’s office said.
“It’s still unbelievable. In my whole career i’ve never had this outcome. If you believe in miracles this is probably one of them” Volusia Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stanley Manhart said.
“We got pulses back right when we got to the hospital which was amazing. Every call is different it was just a miracle that this one man was able to pull through,” New Smyrna Beach Fire Department engineer Ty Tarnow said.
The man made a full recovery, according to officials.

1️⃣ Representation matters: leaders should look like the communities they serve
2️⃣ The ability to make connections: bring neighbors together and strengthen communities as a whole
3️⃣ Be active in the community
4️⃣ Lead by example, let others lead
5️⃣ Take the time to rebuild trust that has been damaged by past leadership

Aaron Ford Defended Nevada Voters in 2020. He Plans to Do so Again in 2024.
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, a Democrat, fought to defend the will of Nevada voters in 2020, protecting the state's election results from baseless accusations and lies about voter fraud.
"We were the ones in court, pushing back and prevailing because people who were lying could not bring forth the evidence to support their lies," Ford said.
Ford worries a similar effort to undermine the will of the voters could happen in 2024 and believes he's the best candidate to once again defend Nevada's democracy.
"We need someone in this office of attorney general who’s going to stand by the constitution, who’s going to push back on lies, and who’s going to ensure that the integrity of our elections goes unassailed and continues to thrive," Ford said.
How the Nevada Attorney General's Race Could Impact Abortion Rights
Reproductive rights are codified into Nevada state statutes, but Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford warned that his opponent, Republican Sigal Chattah, could still make it more difficult for women to access reproductive healthcare if she were to win.
"The person running against me can absolutely advocate things that would put up barriers to exercising that right: waiting periods, ultrasound laws, and things of that sort," Ford said.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford's Public Safety Plans
"I can’t think of one person that I know—or any person I’ve ever spoken to—who wants to live in an unsafe neighborhood. We all are interested in public safety and there are many different ways we approach it," Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford said. "One of the ways we approach it in my office is by trying to tamp down on the form of crime that has increased across the nation, and that’s gun crimes."
Ford, a Democrat and gun owner himself, has led the charge to prevent domestic abusers from owning firearms, and has also helped implement other gun safety measures.

Sen. Marco Rubio and Democrat Rep. Val Demings
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democrat Rep. Val Demings talked about everything, from abortion and guns to the economy and nuclear war.
The issue of gun violence really differentiated the two. Rubio said he decided to run for Senate reelection after the 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre. But Demings criticized him "for doing nothing” after the 2018 Parkland tragedy.
What Does the Nevada Attorney General Do?
Democrat Aaron Ford is running for a second term as Nevada attorney general. But what exactly does a state attorney general do?
"I am the people’s lawyer, the top law enforcement officer in the state, and the top legal advisor in the state," Ford told us.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford's Message to the Latino Community
Aaron Ford is running for reelection as Nevada’s attorney general. Ford, a Democrat, has been speaking Spanish since he was 14 and touted his strong ties to Nevada’s Latino community.
"Every person in this state, as far as I’m concerned, is a member of the Nevada family, and that includes our Latino brothers and sisters. It includes our immigrant Latino brothers and sisters and if you want someone here who’s going to stand up for their dignity and their humanity, that would be me."

GOP candidates
Republicans talk about crime when they are afraid of losing elections.
So it’s no surprise when GOP candidates found themselves on the wrong side of the most salient issue this cycle — reproductive freedom — they pivoted to race and fear, disguised as law and order.
