A man was rescued and revived after becoming trapped in a rip current at New Smyrna Beach in Florida on Saturday, March 30.
Bodyworn video from Volusia Sheriff’s Office shows the man being pulled from the water and emergency crews commencing CPR.
A rip current dragged the swimmer almost 100 metres out into the ocean. He was unresponsive with no pulse when lifeguards brought him in, Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
“Thanks to the quick actions of these ocean rescue lifeguards, deputies, New Smyrna Beach FD, and the team at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach, he regained a pulse and made a full recovery!” the sheriff’s office said.
“It’s still unbelievable. In my whole career i’ve never had this outcome. If you believe in miracles this is probably one of them” Volusia Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stanley Manhart said.
“We got pulses back right when we got to the hospital which was amazing. Every call is different it was just a miracle that this one man was able to pull through,” New Smyrna Beach Fire Department engineer Ty Tarnow said.
The man made a full recovery, according to officials.
