His Excellency, the Education friendly Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has approved the Award of Scholarships to 500 (Five Hundred) indigent (very poor) but intelligent students of Akwa Ibom State origin, studying in Federal or State Universities in Nigeria with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session valued at N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) only for each student, per session.

2. The Scholarships shall be 70% (Seventy percent) for undergraduates studying Science and Technology and Thirty percent (30%) for other courses as follows:

a. Science and Technology courses include:

👉🏿 Pharmacy
👉🏿 Engineering Studies

3. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARD
i. All applicants (Physically Challenged inclusive) must be registered, full-time indigent (very poor) but intelligent students in Federal or State Universities;
ii. Applicants must be at least in their 2nd year of study;
iii. All applicants must have a minimum of 3.50 Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) on a 5.00 scale;
iv. All applicants must produce testimonials from their institutions;
v. All applicants must present certificate of origin from their respective Local Government Council in Akwa Ibom State;
vi. All applicants must NOT be more than Twenty-five (25) years of age at the time of application;
vii. All applicants will be expected to state the financial status / occupation / means of livelihood of their Parents, after fulfilling the academic requirement;
viii. All beneficiaries will be expected to submit academic results at the end of every session to determine their continued eligibility for the scholarship based on their CGPA, which will be verified by the Ministry of Education / State Scholarships Board;
ix. Any beneficiary who falls below the required CGPA of 3.50 will be withdrawn from the Scholarships Scheme;
x. Change of course or institution will NOT be allowed while enjoying the scholarships.

4. Suitably qualified undergraduates are invited to log on to www.moe.akwaibomstate.gov.ng and fill the application form.

All shortlisted students will be required to come to the interview with the following documents:

A'IBOM PDP ELECTS 62 NATIONAL DELEGATES
..Stakeholders, Members Satisfied with Exercise.. Optimistic of Sweeping Victory at General elections.

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected 62 delegates including persons living with disability from all 31 Local Government Areas for the forthcoming primary election of the party, with stakeholders and members of the party expressing satisfaction over the general conduct of the exercise.

At the various local government chapters in the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor Moses Ekpo, delegates to the congress, stakeholders and members of the party in the state who took part in the exercise, lauded the smooth and peaceful conduct of party faithful, holding that it is a testament to the orderliness and unity in PDP in Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Emmanuel who was among the delegates at the congress in his Local Government Area, Onna, speaking to correspondence from the state PDP Secretariat shortly after voting, commended the Congress delegates, congratulating the national delegate who emeged and nominee for person living with disabilities, encouraging the party faithful in Akwa Ibom to maintain the pace of unity and cordiality in conducting its affirs, holding that PDP is ready to gain a sweeping victory in all elective positions by 2023.

The governor who is a leading presidential aspirant of the party, tasked Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians to rise in support of PDP, alluding that the job of rescuing Nigeria is a collective effort which must traverse all inclinations and sectors.

"PDP has stepped forward to lead the mission of rescuing Nigeria from total collapse and we must all support the party on this quest. We must as a people come together and take part as critical Stakeholders in his journey. I am glad that Akwa Ibom PDP is leading from the front through successful conduct of various congresses so far", he said.

Similarly, the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo who was present in Abak for the elective congress, spoke glowingly of the conduct of the party members whom he described as agents of victory, noting that the success of the pre-primary exercise in Abak is a clear sign of greater success to come.

Also commenting on the peaceful nature of the exercise, the speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey while congratulating the winner, attributed the success of the exercise to the popularity of the aspirant and the transparency exhibited by the congress officials in the course of the exercise.

In his remarks, the council chairman of Uruan, Honourable Surveyor Iniobong Ekpenyong commended the party members for their peaceful disposition during the exercise which he adjudged as very transparent, fair, credible, and will further enhance the unending oneness, uniqueness and victory for the party.

In his response, the elected national delegate, Engr Joseph Effiong thanked the PDP stakeholders and members in Uruan for the trust and confidence reposed on him and also commended the state chairman of the party and members of the congress committee for the successful exercise.

Meanwhile, the five man Congress Committee led by Alhaji Majigi Mohammed in company of the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan , which went round various local government chapters of PDP across all Senatorial Districts, affirmed to the credible conduct of the congress.

In Uyo local government, the exercise which was held at the council secretariat had the party electors unanimously vote two national delegates, one which is a person living with disability, as stakeholders applauded the success of the congress.

Speaking about the event, the Council Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, commended the party for timely release of materials to officials and early arrival of the congress officials including the INEC monitoring officer for the exercise.

Also speaking, the member representing Uyo State Constituency, in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka, while commending the congress officials for diligently following due processes, extolled members of the PDP in the chapter for their massive turn out to participate in the exercise.

In Itu local government area, the exercise which held at the council Secretariat was conducted under an ambient atmosphere and had the former Secretary to the State Government, Obonganwan Grace Ekong, elected unopposed as the national delegate and Hon. Akan Akpan Uwah as the representative of persons living with disability.

Speaking after the exercise, the member representing Itu state constituency, Hon Kufre Edidem congratulated the elected persons and described the exercise as very free and fair. While commending massive turn out to the congress by delegates from Itu, Hon. Edidem applauded the state chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Akpan for his humility and adminstrative acumen which have come into play leading to the success of the exercise.

In Ikot Abasi, an elder statesman in the area, Engr. Uwem Okoko (Hensek), described the process as free, fair and credible, thanking the party for the levelled playing field provided for everyone.

"As you can see, the exercise has been conducted and the returning officer have done the needful by way of headcount, and let me assure you that the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency are ready to deliver and vote massively for PDP in the forthcoming elections". He said.

Also Speaking, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh, member representing Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly lauded the state Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan for a peace and well organised LG Congress.

Similarly in Ibeno, PDP State Officer who doubles as Eket Senatorial District Women Leader, Mrs Grace Henry Ekpe, adjudged the exercise as peaceful, transparent and successful, adding that the leadership of the party must be commended for its transparency in the conduct of the congress elections in Ibeno.

In Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas, the event which took place at the Council headquarters Ibiaku Ntok Okpo and Odoro Ikpe was peaceful and orderly as party members conducted themselves with decorum, with the congress ending with satisfaction recorded on the faces of the officials and party Executive/ faithfuls who turned up for the exercise.

It is ‘An Insult’: Jonathan Rejects APC Presidential Form.


Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the presidential form of the All Progressives Congress purchased for him on Monday by a group of his supporters from the north.

Dr Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, said in a statement hours after the news that the group had bought the form broke that the former did not authorise the purchase and consider the move by the group ‘an insult’.

“We wish to categorically state that Dr Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorise it,” the statement read in part.

“We want to state that if the former President wanted to contest an election, he would make his intentions clear to the public and will not enter through the back door.”

In recent months, there have been increased speculations about whether the former President will run for his old post in in the 2023 general elections and there have been calls for him to do so.

But the former President has yet to state whether he would contest or not.

“While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, we wish to state, that he has not in anyway, committed himself to this request,” Eze said.

“Buying a presidential aspiration form in the name Dr Jonathan without his consent, knowing the position he had held in this country, is considered an insult to his person. The general public is therefore advised to disregard it.”

Meet Dr. Charles Mbong, next member to represent Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo state constituency in Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly.

He is a former Chairman of Council.
He is a former member of the House of Assembly.
He is a former SSA to Governor on Primary and Public Health.

As Chairman of Council, he constructed the administrative block and moved the Executive Chairman's office, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Councillors and others from the Primary Health Center facility into the new facility.

As House of Assembly member, he was the progenitor of constituency briefing and empowerment in Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo state constituency.

He organized the first ever constituency briefing and empowerment program that saw beneficiaries across Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo LGAs get Cars, Motorcycles, Hairdressing Equipment, Grinding machines, Cash for Business support and other things.

As SSA to Governor, he was among few that reached back to the people with cash palliatives to cushion the effects of Covid 19.

Dr. Charles Mbong is among the most intelligent and brilliant politicians we have in Eastern Obolo LGA.

He did very well in his time but the only aspect he lacked was media hyping. Then, people paid little attention to the media.

Without mincing words, Dr. Charles Mbong remains the most qualified aspirant to represent Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo state constituency in 2023.

At the moment, we are too enlightened to allow a motion seconder to represent us.

We need the best and the best alone.

Speaking on behalf of Ikot Abasi stakeholders, Sir O. D. Etukaffia, assured the aspirant of the unmatched support in the forthcoming PDP primary elections, and admonished him to remember the elders of the party when he becomes the house member. He reassured him that Ikot Abasi has already vowed to support an spirant with a trak record of effective representation who will make Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency great again and Dr Micah Umoh can do it.

Addressing the crowd that had gathered to honour him,, the frontline House of Reps aspirant, Dr. Micah vowed to revive Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency. He also promised to provides solution to lack of electricity as a major challenge in most parts of the area, he promised to relate with powers that be for purposes of bringing Alscon back to production. He also promised strong human capital development and rehabilitation of Amalgamation House to boast tourism as well as look into the issue of Atan Ikpe and Ikot Umoang bridges.

Also present at the meeting we're PDP Chapter Chairman Etini Ayara, Chelly Okoko, Mathias Idiong, Justus Ntuk, Barr Akwaowo Inyang, Ubong Ukwang and a host of others all of who spoke in very glowing terms of Hon. Dr. Micah's Pedigree in representation.

It's gonna be a combo class for 3 straight months.
You get to learn a lot in the field too.

I'll admit Corp members, graduates, ND holders, SSCE holders, O level students, and anyone interested in learning new or more in the building industry. Skilled and unskilled.

The question is, will you attend?

Thank you Dr Akpan Micah for making "THE BRIDGE OF NO RETURN" what it is today

This jetty was first built in 1795 by the Europeans for the purpose of conveying slaves into waiting ships. it is a floating jetty and has three major underground compartment which were used for storing very stubborn slaves. The compartments have a capacity for about 30 people but about 150 slaves were stored there at any given time. it was nicknamed the "BRIDGE OF NO RETURN" because once a slave stepped on it, they were not allowed to look back and they never returned. Today you can step on it, look back, walk on this bridge and return.

This bridge of no return was restored by Hon. Dr Akpan Micah Umoh and was commissioned on the 25th day of September, 2014. by the former speaker, House of Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

Dr Akpan Micah consults Ikot Abasi delegates
......... The Right man for the job has arrived - IKOT ABASI PDP DELEGATES

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ikot Abasi Chapter delegates have thrown their full weights behind the frontline aspirant for Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in 2023; Dr Akpan Micah.

According to the delegates, having given effective representation and made uncommon impact in 2011 to 2015, Dr Micah is the best man among the aspirants fit to represent Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency again at the green chamber.

The Chapter Chairman, Comrade Etini Ayara, who received the aspirant and his entourage at the party secretariat in Ikot Abasi, lauded Dr Micah for his good works and encourage him to continue consulf on his ambition. And also thank him for donating Public address system to the party and giving a face lift to the party office by installing new flags in front of party office.

In Ikot Abasi, it was an hero's welcome for Dr Micah and his team, who were received at the PDP secretariate.

However, the former House of Representatives member who was highly elated by the total supports from the delegates, promised to give Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo an effective representation while building a strong human capital development, restoration of Alscon, Power supply and creation of jobs through tourism development.
