A'IBOM PDP ELECTS 62 NATIONAL DELEGATES
..Stakeholders, Members Satisfied with Exercise.. Optimistic of Sweeping Victory at General elections.
The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected 62 delegates including persons living with disability from all 31 Local Government Areas for the forthcoming primary election of the party, with stakeholders and members of the party expressing satisfaction over the general conduct of the exercise.
At the various local government chapters in the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor Moses Ekpo, delegates to the congress, stakeholders and members of the party in the state who took part in the exercise, lauded the smooth and peaceful conduct of party faithful, holding that it is a testament to the orderliness and unity in PDP in Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Emmanuel who was among the delegates at the congress in his Local Government Area, Onna, speaking to correspondence from the state PDP Secretariat shortly after voting, commended the Congress delegates, congratulating the national delegate who emeged and nominee for person living with disabilities, encouraging the party faithful in Akwa Ibom to maintain the pace of unity and cordiality in conducting its affirs, holding that PDP is ready to gain a sweeping victory in all elective positions by 2023.
The governor who is a leading presidential aspirant of the party, tasked Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians to rise in support of PDP, alluding that the job of rescuing Nigeria is a collective effort which must traverse all inclinations and sectors.
"PDP has stepped forward to lead the mission of rescuing Nigeria from total collapse and we must all support the party on this quest. We must as a people come together and take part as critical Stakeholders in his journey. I am glad that Akwa Ibom PDP is leading from the front through successful conduct of various congresses so far", he said.
Similarly, the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo who was present in Abak for the elective congress, spoke glowingly of the conduct of the party members whom he described as agents of victory, noting that the success of the pre-primary exercise in Abak is a clear sign of greater success to come.
Also commenting on the peaceful nature of the exercise, the speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey while congratulating the winner, attributed the success of the exercise to the popularity of the aspirant and the transparency exhibited by the congress officials in the course of the exercise.
In his remarks, the council chairman of Uruan, Honourable Surveyor Iniobong Ekpenyong commended the party members for their peaceful disposition during the exercise which he adjudged as very transparent, fair, credible, and will further enhance the unending oneness, uniqueness and victory for the party.
In his response, the elected national delegate, Engr Joseph Effiong thanked the PDP stakeholders and members in Uruan for the trust and confidence reposed on him and also commended the state chairman of the party and members of the congress committee for the successful exercise.
Meanwhile, the five man Congress Committee led by Alhaji Majigi Mohammed in company of the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan , which went round various local government chapters of PDP across all Senatorial Districts, affirmed to the credible conduct of the congress.
In Uyo local government, the exercise which was held at the council secretariat had the party electors unanimously vote two national delegates, one which is a person living with disability, as stakeholders applauded the success of the congress.
Speaking about the event, the Council Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, commended the party for timely release of materials to officials and early arrival of the congress officials including the INEC monitoring officer for the exercise.
Also speaking, the member representing Uyo State Constituency, in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka, while commending the congress officials for diligently following due processes, extolled members of the PDP in the chapter for their massive turn out to participate in the exercise.
In Itu local government area, the exercise which held at the council Secretariat was conducted under an ambient atmosphere and had the former Secretary to the State Government, Obonganwan Grace Ekong, elected unopposed as the national delegate and Hon. Akan Akpan Uwah as the representative of persons living with disability.
Speaking after the exercise, the member representing Itu state constituency, Hon Kufre Edidem congratulated the elected persons and described the exercise as very free and fair. While commending massive turn out to the congress by delegates from Itu, Hon. Edidem applauded the state chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Akpan for his humility and adminstrative acumen which have come into play leading to the success of the exercise.
In Ikot Abasi, an elder statesman in the area, Engr. Uwem Okoko (Hensek), described the process as free, fair and credible, thanking the party for the levelled playing field provided for everyone.
"As you can see, the exercise has been conducted and the returning officer have done the needful by way of headcount, and let me assure you that the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency are ready to deliver and vote massively for PDP in the forthcoming elections". He said.
Also Speaking, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh, member representing Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly lauded the state Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan for a peace and well organised LG Congress.
Similarly in Ibeno, PDP State Officer who doubles as Eket Senatorial District Women Leader, Mrs Grace Henry Ekpe, adjudged the exercise as peaceful, transparent and successful, adding that the leadership of the party must be commended for its transparency in the conduct of the congress elections in Ibeno.
In Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas, the event which took place at the Council headquarters Ibiaku Ntok Okpo and Odoro Ikpe was peaceful and orderly as party members conducted themselves with decorum, with the congress ending with satisfaction recorded on the faces of the officials and party Executive/ faithfuls who turned up for the exercise.
