Happy everyone!

Today's tip focuses on safety. It's very simple, but extremely important.

If you're like us, you're a one person army, and you'll set up all of your equipment including lights. We highly recommend everyone who uses the kind of lights that get really hot, to always have a pair of gloves in their kit. That way, when your shoot is done and you're taking down the lights, you can just grab them without burning your hand to smithereens or waiting an eternity for them to cool off.

Here we have the Setwear EZ-Fit™ Gloves, but you can get just about any multipurpose work gloves and you'll be just fine. You can find these type of gloves on amazon or at your local Home Depot.

Stay safe while on set and create something dope!

Today's it's short and sweet.

I would like to highlight an amazing event that happens in the beautiful woods of Oregon's Silver Falls State Park!

I had the opportunity to attend this year's Oregon Doc Camp and it was and amazing experience! The location was beautiful and I learned so much from other filmmakers with years of experience and new ideas that will help further my career!

If you're a documentary filmmaker, I recommend attending this event, it will change your life! Thanks Doc Camp, I'll see you next year!

Happy ! Today we're showing you a useful editing technique that we learned a couple weeks ago from the great Jason Levine !

When you're editing in you can create 2 time lines. The main timeline that will be at the bottom and a second one that you can place inside the program monitor panel.

The top timeline can have all of the raw footage that you'll be cutting and moving to the main timeline below. We tried this method and we were able to cut the footage for our edit a lot faster!

In today's we're talking about Adjustment Layers in Adobe Premiere Pro!

We've recently started to use adjustment layers more and more and they've helped us a lot!

Basically, adjustment layers let you apply effects to multiple clips at once. You can quickly create one by going to your project panel, clicking on the blank folded page at the bottom right corner, and selecting adjustment layer from the menu. It will create one in your project panel and you'll have to drag and drop it in your timeline.

You can use these adjustment layers for a bunch of different things, like creating the letter box effect for your videos for example. We mainly use it to color grade all of our footage at once using the Lumetri color panel. That way if you change your mind about the color, you can just edit the adjustment layer and it will apply it to everything.

Happy ! Today we're talking about the top three features we love from the April 2017 Adobe Premiere Pro release!

Adobe keeps killing the NLE game and this latest update has some amazing features. Keep in mind that the first release of any software you'll most likely have bugs and future updates will probably fix them! Either way, these are the top features we like and the ones we've used so far.

1. Essential Graphics Panel
2. Type Tool
3. Motion Graphics Templates

With these tools making titles in premiere is a lot easier and faster now. Also, the editable motion graphics templates are very useful when you need graphics that are smooth and have a professional look. So far we like the new update, but we'll have to continue our day to day workflow to really dig deep with all of the new features.

Happy Sunday everyone! It today's we're talking about how to wrap your mic cable when using a mic stand or a boom pole.

This is a very simple trick, yet very useful so your mic cable won't be in the way when you're shooting. For this example we're using the with a Hosa MHE-110 extension cable from the homies . Essentially what you want to do, is gently wrap the cable around the pole, leaving 1-2 inches between each loop. If you're stand or pole comes with clips to secure the cable, make sure you use them. Once you have wrapped the cable all the way down, you can connect it to your camera or audio recorder.

Happy super late ! Who are you kidding though...you're probably in bed looking at your phone anyway!

Let's talk about the best way to place a lav mic on your subject!

The most common mistake when using a lav mic is when you clip it to your subject's clothes. Besides hiding the cable under your subject's clothes, you need to make sure the actual mic, that is visible, looks good too.

In this photo we have the right and wrong ways to clip the mic. On the right you see that the cable is straight you can actually see where it goes inside the shirt. On the left, we made a little loop with the cable, placed it inside and behind the clip and voila, the mic looks like it's just magically hanging there and looks a lot better!

Keep this in mind for your next shoot. Small and simple details like these make a huge difference and your videos will look more professional!
