“Mom, I think I made some enemies standing up for someone but I don’t regret the mean things I said.” How would you respond to this?

Words are important. Words from God and His prophets, words to others and words to yourself. Choose them carefully. I’m struggling to keep my words uplifting and not gossip and I’m struggling to help my kids know when unkind words are okay. Are they? I don’t know. But, I am getting better at thinking before I talk and being calculated about what I say. 🤍

Butterfly clips, scruntchies, chokers, gel pens…can you relate?! It was so fun to get together and reminisce about our high school days. I love these girls and am convinced everyone needs a girls getaway every once in awhile! Do you have any suggestions for a great location or ideas for our next one?

My all time worst homemaking years 🥴 were about 5 years ago. I was behind on everything and had no systems in place to help save me time and effort. I started noticing that my kids were struggling socially at school and wondered if it had anything to do with their chaotic home life.

That thought of “my irresponsibility was shaping their future negatively,” was just enough to finally light a fire under me. I was determined to research and create the best systems out there for my home. I found myself finally figuring out how to “home.” There should be a college class or book everyone reads before being put in charge of a home!

I knew I wanted to start recording and creating a few projects about my new passion and progress, and was born.

The happy ending was that I saw my kids thrive when I created an environment where they could thrive. I really was holding them back with a chaotic and unorganized home.

I am rebuilding my own home’s foundation on these Mindful Home principles and systems to try to see how strong I can make the climate if my home. You’ll see me talking about some of my products on here, but mostly, I’m bring you along on the journey of creating a Mindful Home.

Sometimes I feel loud. Sometimes my home feels loud. And sometimes the kids feel loud. But it’s my responsibility to hold the space for them to experiment on finding peace through emotions. I can level out myself and become that constant rock for them when I fill myself with The Spirit and scripture. Just 5 minutes a day keeps me patient and calm. What keeps you peaceful and calm when the world rages around you?

It’s that time in the summer when my patience is wearing thin and all the kids are starting to get into bad habits.

There is one thing that hasn’t let me down during the tough times of summer: I love my game “You Be You.” I usually lay out all the beautifully illustrated cards on the table and during each meal have the kids pick one and read it. It makes all of us more intentional about our behavior and refocus our goals together. I’m going to start posting some of the quick devotionals that are on the cards so you can see what they are all about. I’m also going to start posting some motivation to not just live through summer but be intentional with your kids in this short time frame that we have with them . . . Make A Difference! Check back here for more ideas and motivation.

I’ll put a link to this wonderful game on Amazon in my bio.

Save this for later! Swipe to see what I’ve learned about milk. I’ll post my family’s blind voting on the milk products in my stories. Everyone was REALLY opinionated about the taste. Over all they are choosing low fat organic grass fed cows milk and I’m going to start drinking organic oat milk. I’m excited to start using cleaner products in my kitchen. Follow along as i post what I learn. Next week is eggs and hand soap!!!

We struggled with this costume party! Guess the decade😂 I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend. Our week has been fun of devotionals of Christ and laundry and football practice and a few parties. I’ve found that when I make teaching my kids of Christ a priority, then He helps me find a way. Here’s to more Christ than sugar this weekend!

Do you think this is true: A tidy house is a tidy mind and/or a tidy mind makes a tidy house? Here are three challenges and worksheets to help:
1.) Challenge your self doubt. Have you ever tried affirmations? The premise of affirmations is to dethrone your self doubt. Your thoughts are your reality, so create thoughts that believe in yourself. I walk you through it in my affirmations worksheet.

2.) Spring clean your habits, boundaries and regret - check out my “Disease to Please” worksheet but basically, keep asking yourself why you are doing something destructive to yourself. So many people trace the root of their problem down to recognition and approval. Create habits and boundaries for YOU, not based on the perception of others.

3.) Thought work. Do those two words sound weird together? Think of it as a challenge. Do you have any control of your thoughts and mind? Try observe your thoughts, then reroute destructive thoughts to the reality you want and the best version of you. The best way to calm and retire hurtful thoughts, anxiety or depression is my worksheet called, “Morning Mindfulness Routine” or my “Meditation” worksheet. You have control over your thoughts. Take control!

We LOVE this office! They make braces feel fancy and fun! Brynlee was pretty excited to get them on.

We had some visitors this weekend full of good food and sports with a sweet church blessing on Sunday. Then we took some rides in Devin’s girlfriend. I love TX’s spring!

“Watch your technique!” I was half way through a workout and realized wait, “what is my parenting technique?” Whatever it was, it wasn’t working and had had a pretty crummy morning. I quickly grabbed these cards, put them on my table and realized, “these are my parenting technique. This is what I fall bad in when it’s time to adjust and without fail, I get inspired to be better when I start implementing them into our lives.

The cool part is that it’s a game, not a boring devotional! This game gives your child confidence, comfort and the tools to know that they are "perfect just as they are" in a fun and applicable way.  There are 25 beautifully illustrated (by ) affirmation value cards each with it's own personal lesson of a prompt, definition and challenge in the instructions booklet.  There are six different ways suggested to play the game that are described in the lesson plan booklet.  It's easy and can be played in five minutes or a lengthy daily lesson with your child.

This is the physical copy that you are buying.  It is printed on premium cardstock and coated with a matte film to protect the cards.  It has the assembled and stapled instructional lesson booklet with it as well.  It comes shrink wrapped and in it's labeled linen bag.

Here are the top national parks to visit (save this post for later like I’m am doing!) based on your comments and messages:

1.) Grand Canyon National Park, AZ
2.) Arches National Park, UT
3.) Yellowstone National Park, ID
4.) Zions National Park, UT
5.) Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN
6.) Sequoia National Park, CA
7.) Everglades National Park, FL
8.) Glacier National Park, MT
9.) Ozark National Forest, AK
10.) Redwood National Park, CA
11.) Shenandoah National Park, VA
12.) Carlsbad Caverns, NM
13.) Teton National Park, ID
14.) Bryce Canyon National Park, UT
15.) Big Bend National Park, TX

And my review of Big Bend? Well, I laughed when the ticket lady at the gate described her favorite hike as lush. My positives are that it is a beautiful mix of Arches National Park and Zion National Park in the middle of the desert, so you get a great mix of scenery. The National Park accommodations were great and each of the 6 hikes we went on were beautiful and well kept. My negatives is that it took us 8 ish hours to get to the park and then because it is the largest National Park in the country, each hike was quite a long drive to get to as well. Make sure you get gas before you enter the park and there weren’t a lot of food options besides the lodge in the middle of the park. Hikes that I recommend are Santa Elena Canyon, Hot Springs on the Mexico Boarder, Grapevine and any hike around the lodge. We had a blast celebrating Devin’s birthday at Big Bend too.

I love Christian mindfulness! But, I’m sure you have noticed that my second passion is organization. Marry those two concepts and that’s why I’m here on this account. I’m pretty passionate about their importance in life and LOVE helping other find peace of mind and peace in their home!

I live in and love the outdoors, volleyball and all things piano! I’m a horrible accountant, carpenter and lose all patience after 7:30PM. I love God and know that He loves imperfect me.

Sports are ruling my life right now. Add that to my list of what I promised I would never say and
do.

There is a fine line that each family has to set before diving into sports, music lessons, extracurricular school clubs and church events. Are you a play during lessons/games only kind of person? So, no practicing during the week? Do you have days you refuse to let sports or activities take over? Are you in it for the scholarship opportunities? Are you just in it for the relationships? Are you in activities as cheap as humanly possible? There are so many ways to approach this and each year, my standards are pushed and stretched.

I don’t have this area of my life down yet. It’s still evolving but I can say this…IT’S SO FUN when you finally find that one activity that makes them perk up, practice on their own and have a desire to work hard and be uncomfortable for the possibility of getting better. Suddenly, all the sacrifice on my end becomes worth it.

I have kids still searching for that feeling. How do you help those kids that don’t see the point in sacrifice?

19/01/2022

I was pretty proud of myself getting out for a run when all the sudden, someone passed me on the sidewalk…walking their dog! 😂 I decided to state the obvious to them and clear the air: “You walk faster than I run!” They laughed pretty hard and kept walking.

But, all the sudden something changed. I wasn’t happy, proud of myself and enjoying the sunny day. I started comparing myself, getting frustrated with my time and heart rate. I got physically worse at running as my mentality worsened.

Guys, comparison is toxic. I’m studying the Cain and Abel story in Genesis right now and do you know what started Cain’s anger to God and Abel? God accepted Abel’s sacrifice and not his sacrifice! He compared his sacrifice to Abel’s and God’s acceptance of Abel to his denial.

I hate every minute of my runs. But after my little awakening on my run today, I decided to choose my reality. I choose to run because of me and not because of how it compares with others. Magically, my head lifted and I found myself studying the story of Cain and Abel and before I knew my misery was over!

“Personality begins where comparison leaves off.” -Shannon Alder

Side note: I can’t be the only one who hates running?! Anyone have any advice on how to start enjoying the running part of a run?!

Are you running from this? Here is how I tame the beast in 5 minutes:

1. Search your inbox for a key word that will pull up all the junk mail (like “sale” or “limited time”), then click select all and delete in batches.
I search “school” and “meeting” and delete everything a year old.

2. Make a goal to unsubscribe from all emails you haven’t clicked on for 3-6 months. If you receive any emails from a subscription just make it a habit to unsubscribe immediately.

3. Change you mind set so that your email is a form or communication and not your running to do list.

4. Create a personal communication email and a junk email account. Send all sign ups and junk accounts to the junk email so once a year you can delete everything in the account. Only give out your personal email for important communication that you need to check daily or weekly.

5. Don’t make emails a negative thing. Turn on some music and let it be your reward to sit down and relax doing emails when you finish something hard.👊🏻
