Position Required: WRITER FOR HIRE


We are looking for young, dynamic and talented writers with a knack for fiction writing, particularly in the field of romance.


This position involves creative/fiction writing, and formulating scenes and creative direction for the assigned plot in a way that should engage the readers.


This position is remote, you can work anywhere, and at your own pace. We will only care that you meet our deadlines.


You will be given plots and narratives, and will be supervised by a team of editors who have written and published best-selling books and top-grossing visual novels in the international market.


A good command of the English language is a must. Excellent written communication skills and correct grammar is highly preferred.


You must be able to write interesting characters and compelling scenes that will make the readers connect with the story you are writing. You should also be able to follow established guidelines and engrossing styles of writing.

Projects will be given on contract-basis, and the top writers will be given priority for works that the company will publish or contract with international third-party clients.

This opportunity is ideal for emerging writers, who are willing to expand their network and experience in the field of fiction/romance writing, and at the same time start earning through a career in writing.

Compensation will depend on the project, deadlines and number of words requirement. (E.g. USD ‪800-1000‬ for a 80K to 120K words due in 1 month.)

Part-timers are welcome to apply, as this will be on a project basis.

The suitable candidate should have:

1. At least 1 year experience in writing fiction. (Publication with Traditional avenues and known digital publishers IS NOT REQUIRED, but very much welcome.)

2. High level of English proficiency.

3. Editing, English grammar and proofreading skills

4. Loves to read, particularly the romance genre

5. At least high school graduate

6. Can work under pressure and able to revise works quickly

7. Willing to work long and odd hours when required

8. Can work with minimum supervision

9. Can quickly grasp the details of the nature of the projects being given

10. Should have his/her own laptop / computer and internet connection

11. Ability to communicate through different platforms of chatting. e.g. Whatsapp, Wechat, Messenger, DingTalk

12. Can work with Google Docs, MS Word and Excel.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR COPYEDITORS!

We are looking for professional and experienced Copy Editors to work with us on stories and books we will be publishing. The successful candidate should have an excellent knowledge of the English language, and at least 2 years of experience in the same position.
We publish fiction in the English language. He/she should be a fan of reading fiction books, particularly romance, mystery, thriller, and suspense, and must be able to revise and edit works according to the company’s editorial style.
Job Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the books are free of grammatical and spelling errors.
• Review manuscripts and ensure that they are perfect and publication-ready.
• Developmental editing, copy editing, line editing, and technical editing to ensure the books’ consistency, readability, and style are in accordance with the company’s editorial policy.
• Raise clarifications and provide suggestions to the book authors when necessary.
• Read manuscripts and submissions and make recommendations to the Content Acquisitions Manager.
• Manage, communicate with new authors, and work together with authors on developing their stories in the app.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years copy editing experience.
• Excellent knowledge of the English language.
• Previous experience in English fiction book editing is preferred.
• Connection and experience dealing with local and international authors preferred.
• Must be fast, dynamic, goal-oriented, and can work with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to work with Microsoft Office and Google Documents.
• Must be able to edit with documents locked for track changes.
• Knowledge (reading and writing) of the Mandarin language is a plus, but not required.
• Expert in pronunciation and grammar to be able to quality check audiobooks is a plus.
This is a remote, work-from-home, but full-time position. You can be located anywhere in the Philippines. (A plus if you live in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.)
Monthly compensation based on experience and network with authors. You will be able to work at your own pace, at your own convenient time, although a regular call with the line manager is required every other day.
You should have your own laptop/computer and your own internet connection.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to perform sample tests.
Depending on the qualifications, experience, and results of the tests, the budget for this position is from Php 25,000 to Php 35,000.
