Engage with us to stay informed, learn about safety, and see how you can support and appreciate the efforts of our local first responders. Join us in making a positive impact on the safety and well-being of our community. About Rochester NH Scanner Alerts Media Group
I’ve been involved in public safety since I was 13, starting as an Explorer, driven by a desire to become a first responder. Over nearly 30 years, I worked as a firefighter, EMT, dispatcher, and law enforcement officer. About 4 or 5 years ago, that all came to an end when I was injured while trying to subdue someone who was under the influence and attempting to harm others. The injury left me permanently disabled and, with it, I started to realize how much my years in public safety had affected my mental health. Around two and a half years ago, I was contacted by a friend from Rochester NH Police Department. He had received requests from the public for an online scanner feed and asked if I knew how to set it up. Using a handheld scanner and a partially broken laptop, I got it going. Strangely, listening to the feed helped me feel connected again to what had always been part of my life. One day, while listening to a situation involving a shoplifter who took off on foot, I noticed people on a community page were blowing the incident out of proportion, claiming it was a robbery. That’s when I decided to start a page to report facts straight from the scanner, knowing there were other similar pages, but noticing that many exaggerated or gave the wrong impression about incidents. To my surprise, the page quickly took off. At first, I was manually posting every incident, trying to keep the format clean, but it became difficult with typos and maintaining uniformity. So, I started using a Google form to copy and paste the information, which helped but was more time-consuming. As the page grew, people started requesting coverage for other areas around Rochester. I teamed up with two people in Carroll County, which led to the creation of the Carroll and Wolfeboro pages, as well as the Strafford County and York County pages. With the growth, more followers began reaching out, asking if they could help. That’s how our fantastic team started, and it continues to grow. As we receive requests for coverage in new areas, we try to accommodate. Our pages are here for a few key reasons: to keep you informed about what’s going on in your area, to highlight the hard work of our first responders and show appreciation, and to report the facts as they come over the radio to limit speculation. We aim to provide a reliable source of information, no matter the size of our following compared to others. My team and I are committed to giving you the most accurate information possible, always using scanner traffic and official sources we can verify. We never rely on other pages for our reports, and we make sure to credit the sources we use. What started with manually typing and formatting posts has now grown to using an app I built specifically for these pages. It not only formats the information but also determines which pages to post to. None of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors, subscribers, and text alert members. We appreciate all of you and value your feedback. Today, we operate about 14 scanner feeds, providing real-time access to emergency radio traffic from Essex County, MA, up to Grafton County, NH, and as far east as York County, ME. We are dedicated to continuing to expand and improve this coverage. Mission and Values Statement

It is when we get emails like this that makes everything we work so hard to do so much more worth it. This is also a huge highlight of how much our sponsors help us to help our community!

Good morning,

I wanted to convey a very grateful thank you for your willingness to pay for my attendance to the RIT Training this year. It made financial space for more of my coworkers to be able to attend the training. I cannot express just how wonderful the Massachusetts Academy must be with leadership I witnessed at the training. It was a lot different than what I had anticipated, but it was clearly helpful to everyone who was in attendance. It was eye-opening to hear other PSAPs discuss the full scope of their responsibilities on top of their staffing issues. It made me even more grateful to be able to work in the community that I do. Coincidentally, we had a structure fire the very next evening, and 3 of our dispatchers were able to apply their renewed confidence to their work that evening. Thank you again for your consideration, and for sharing your monies with us, because I know that funding is not always the easiest thing to get your hands on. Best of luck with the holiday season, and I look forward to seeing everyone at future training events.

All my best,

Lauren Coty, Fire/EMS Dispatch

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

📞 We’ve seen a rise in scam reports where criminals are impersonating law enforcement agencies and even spoofing phone numbers to appear official. They are also using fake but official-looking letters and emails to deceive unsuspecting victims. 😡

These scammers are highly skilled in emotional manipulation and social programming, making it easy for them to deceive even the most cautious individuals. 🕵️‍♂️

👉 REMEMBER:
• 📜 Courts, law enforcement, or official agencies WILL NEVER call you demanding payment.
• 💳 They WILL NOT accept cash through the mail, gift cards, or prepaid credit cards as payment methods.
• ☎️ Always verify any claims by contacting your local law enforcement agency directly before sending money to anyone.

✅ TIPS TO STAY SAFE:
1️⃣ Don’t trust caller ID alone – scammers can spoof numbers to make them look legitimate.
2️⃣ Hang up and call the official agency’s publicly listed number to verify the claim.
3️⃣ Talk to someone you trust before acting on any threats or payment demands.

🔄 SHARE THIS POST!
Please share this important message with friends, family, and especially elderly neighbors and relatives who may not be active on social media. Scammers often target those who may be more vulnerable. Let’s help protect our community! 💙

Reports of Law Enforcement Impersonation Scams Increase in New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces a recent rise in reports of scammers impersonating the Rockingham County Sherrif’s Office (“RCSO”) in order to trick people into paying money to avoid an imminent arrest.

The Attorney General’s Office and RCSO have received several reports of scammers calling individuals, claiming that the person missed a court appearance and now faces a warrant for their arrest. The scammers falsely claim that a judge issued the warrant and use the name of a real New Hampshire judge to make the scam seem credible. They further deceive victims by sending fake proof that the person received and signed a notice about the court appearance, including a doctored image of a Registered Mail Receipt (see example attached).

Key points to remember:
Law enforcement agencies will never ask for immediate payment to avoid arrest.
Any unsolicited call, text, or email demanding money in exchange for avoiding arrest is a scam.
Law enforcement will not threaten arrest unless immediate payment is made.

Attorney General Formella urges residents to stay alert and follow these steps if they receive such a call:
Do not engage with the caller.
Hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal information or money.
Contact your local police department especially if you’ve lost money or arranged to have money picked up.
If callers have concerns about the legitimacy of a call which purports to be from the RCSO they should contact Rockingham County Dispatch at 603-679-2225 to verify the authenticity.
Report the scam to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office:

INFORMATION

Scam Alert – Attorney General Warns of Blackmail Scam Targeting New Hampshire Residents

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella issues an alert warning of a blackmail scam targeting New Hampshire residents, including New Hampshire’s older adult population.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has received several reports from residents who have received similar e-mails from senders who are unfamiliar to them. The e-mail subject line contained the recipient’s name. The body of the e-mail contained the recipient’s name and home address. A similarly worded, threatening letter was attached to each e-mail. The letter contained the recipient’s name, telephone number, home address, and a picture of the recipient’s home. The letter claimed that a virus was placed on the recipient’s electronic device, allowing the sender to track the recipient’s browsing history, e-mails, and social media accounts.

The letter warns that the sender has extracted embarrassing information about the recipient. The sender threatens that the embarrassing information will be sent to the recipient’s e-mail and/or telephone contacts unless the recipient pays a “privacy fee” using cryptocurrency. The letter lists the amount of the “privacy fee” and cryptocurrency account information for deposit.

An e-mail containing this type of letter as an attachment is known as a “blackmail scam.” Residents should understand that the senders of these e-mails have not actually been to the recipient’s home. They have obtained personal identifying information from publicly available sources and included photos of the recipient’s home obtained online in the letter. Further, the sender has not gained access to the recipient’s electronic device. Instead, the sender threatens the recipient to create a sense of fear and urgency so that the recipient will pay money.

The Attorney General urges New Hampshire residents to be vigilant. Do not reply to or open any attachments in electronic messages from senders with whom you are unfamiliar. Anyone who opens one of these letters attached to an e-mail should take the following steps:

Do not panic;
Do not send money, including cryptocurrency, in response to the letter;
Contact your local police department, especially if you have lost money;
If you are concerned about whether your computer or other device has been compromised, contact a reputable computer company you can verify to inspect your device;
Report the scam to the Office of the Attorney General – Consumer Protection Hotline:
1-888-468-4454
E-mail: [email protected]
www.doj.nh.gov/consumer/complaints

Anyone with knowledge that a vulnerable adult has been scammed or financially exploited should also contact the New Hampshire Bureau of Adult and Aging Services, at 1-800-949-0470.
