TESTIMONIAL
Today is Michaela's, one.
She lives in the near of Prague.

➡️ The story about :

During a short stay in an equestrian center, for two nights, I met a family whose mother spoke French.
So I asked her about climate change.

➡️ This is what she said :
Much less snow than a few years ago.
Especially in the lower regions.
Much more extreme in temperature changes.
More frequent floods.

TESTIMONIAL
Today is Freider's, one.
He lives in Hemmersdorf, in Germany and is 57 years old.

➡️ The story about :
During the time I was waiting to get my shoes from the post, I had to move from places to places around Dresden.
I spent like this, 3 days in this horse riding center.
The owner joined me by horse on the lasts kilometers to show me the way to arrive to the farm, that was funny!
And hosted us really good.
A friendly person.

➡️ This is what he said :
IF it's made by human, I don't know but you can definitely see a change like the water is getting less, we have more dry summer, in winter the rainfall is getting less, in our region we don't have the typical snowlevel anymore, because of the dry climate the conifer is getting sick especially because of the bark beetle.
That's what I see.
I think in nature we have intervals and everything could get better again. But we humans have to do out part for that to not make it worse. We don't want our kids and grandchilderen to live in a desert.

TESTIMONIAL
Today is Klaudia 's one.

➡️ The story about :
Always, these people who welcomed us with Moris, a few days.
This couple who takes care of the scouts.
Here is the testimony of Klaudia, the mother.

➡️ This is what she noticed :
It rain much less, more storms and windy days.
The summer is hotter.
Less insects and birds.
The winter is partially without snow and frost.
Only 21 % from the German forest is completely healthy (detected by "forest condition survey").

It includes the climate survey, my work with leather, wood and others.
As well as a report on how people see happiness, in the form of a drawing.

[WINTER SITUATION]

Do you know the Maslow pyramid?
It's a diagram showing the hierarchy of needs.

I thought a lot about it this winter.

I haven't been able to figure out how to satisfy more than my primary needs for many months.
That is the first line.

BUT, the winter already well advanced, I had the chance to go to my family!
In Berlin, so 100 kms from the last place I was.
My horse staying at that time in the forest with other horses, and he too is getting stronger (and fatter, of course! ).

For my part, I am now physically and emotionally safe.
I can regain my self-confidence and have a lighter mind.
What is absolutely necessary to travel safe, in spring.

And to complete the other lines of the pyramid.

Thank you family!
And thank you the Polish family I spent last winter with! Because I was able to find there a lot.

And thank you to the people I lived with this winter before.
Because I am here to learn from all situations.
I hear that's how we grow up.

AND YOU?
Where are you in this diagram?

Ps: for the French people here, I made a french version of the diagram :D

[MEETING ON OUR WAY]

A Polish man, at whose house we stopped with Attika for tea.

He is a traveler, and a blacksmith.

He and his wife helped me a lot!

And he had the patience and kindness to give me often a lot of advices to trim my horse, on my way.

Here, an interview where we see him with his family.

He builds his boat in his farm, learns navigation and is going to travel around the world!

😁

⬇️
"A trip around the world in a boat built in a barn - this is Arkadiusz's plan Pawełek for 2021. The traveler has so far crossed the Atlantic on a pontoon boat, but has never sailed. As he says, he learns it from books. How does he prepare for the expedition and what does his wife say"?

TESTIMONIAL
Today is Ferjeux's, one.

The video is in French language, but below are the facts the farmer is speaking about.

➡️ The story about :
We were in France, with Attika. Slowly going north, in the middle of summer.
With a nomadic friend who also has animals, we had decided to join us.
We each had a month's walk to meet each other and travel together.
It is good to walk towards someone for a long time and then meet him.
The feeling is quite different than taking your car and meeting up two days later.

So we were on the road together, with a cow, a sheep, a dog, a hen and a camel.

We arrived in a village, looking for a farm to stop there at night. There was also my cousin at that time, and we had been housed by a cow breeder. We slept in the hayloft after having shared a meal together. In the morning, I asked the farmer to tell me about the impact of climate change on his life.

➡️ This is what he noticed :

As a child, there were more snow.
Very fast temperature changes.
Widespread storm problems.
Arrival of ticks in 10 years.
Land movements, houses that crack.
Monitoring of the herd difficult because before winter was cold so the cows were systematically in the barn, and now in the middle of winter, it is suddenly 10 or 15 degrees and then it relapses.
Change of practice in terms of crops, for hay for example, because of drought or a very long period of rain.
The job becomes more complicated.
He needs to adapt.

➡️ Soon there will be the second part of the video where he explains how he reacts to the changes.

[WINTER SITUATION]

A small summary of this winter already well advanced.

I dedicated most of my time to recover energy... While sleeping.

There is still the minimum to do like :

- learning and working the leather to earn some money/ taking care of the daily care of the horses present here.
- reorganizing my equipment to have only 11 kilos of fixed luggage on my horse
- keeping my horse in shape, with some activity and the involvement of equine health professionals
- to train myself better in trimming, with a super hoofsmith

I am fortunate to have around me, some caring people and above all, to be with some travelers companions at times.

These people are a revelation to me.
Indeed, whoever they are, whatever their character, I feel good with them.

We share the art of being on the road all year round, of being visible and having human values.
And above all, to learn.
And being free.

TESTIMONIAL
Today is Kasia's one.

➡️ The story about :
We were on our way in the heart of a Polish forest.
A hunting guard car stopped next to us.
It was explained to me that the next day, it was better not to cross forests, because a big hunting would take place.
Quickly, I asked them if in the surroundings, someone would be available to welcome us, my animals and myself for the night and the next day.
My itinerary being only composed of forests.
In a few minutes, they organized something, contacting a few neighbors.
Really, the Polish welcome is great!
So I spent the night at nice people house, my animals in the garden.
Then, two days later, we migrated to the house of the hunting gard who found us on the road.
At that time, the situation with the covid becoming critical, I decided to find a transport to Germany.
The time to organize it, I stayed with the hunting gard and his family in a beautiful house in the middle of the forest.
His daughter, Kasia, is at the origin of this testimony.

➡️ Here is the testimony :
No more seasons, like it used to be before, specially winters are warmers, there is no more snow and summers are quite short and windy.
It can affect people mind (seasons changing), I can see that on myself and some of my friend.

TESTIMONIAL
Today is Niegowice friend group's one.

➡️ The story about :

I was in the company of Moris the horse and Mawamiss, the camel with whom I wanted to continue to travel.
We had just spent a few days at the home of an elderly couple, who took us in one evening when my animals escaped in the forest alone because they had been afraid of something on the camp for the night, and they were free.
They helped me to find them by lending me a bike and when I went back in the night with my two animals, and the bike, I understood that they were inviting me to their home.
They loaded my bags in their car and we left in the middle of the night with my horse and my camel to a village.
So we spent a few days at their house.
They became my Polish grandparents.

Then, on my way back home, I stopped one evening at the house of some people who kindly lent me their garden for the night.

This testimony is theirs!

➡️ Here is the testimony :
A lot of insects in summer because winters are warmer.

Before it was - 25 and now it's - 15 or -10 degrees.
When we were kids, the snow were until the knees, now they haven't got that much.

Stronger wind, storms are steongers also and come suddenly

The air pollution, was before only in the cities, it's now also in the villages.

Today is Mirek's one.

(you can look at the others, by searching in the page with this keyword : TESTIMONIAL)

➡️ The story about :
During the winter I spent in Poland, I was able to work for a while in an onion factory.
The work consisted of peeling onions that fell out of large crates.
And that, 8 hours a day.
For between 6 and 8 euros a day for me who was not used to it and was slower than the others.

And later, I had the chance to go 15 kilometers further, in a huge farm where there were a few horses.
Percherons and English thoroughbreds.
All of them, having had a rough education.
My job there was to train them every day.
The other farm employees who didn't speak a word of English, and me not speaking much Polish, there were some funny situations!
I learned a lot.
I lived alone on the spot in the farm's castle, with my camel and my horse that had just arrived.

This is the testimony of the owner of this farm.
Thanks, Mirek for everything.
And again, in general to all the persons in Gabin.

➡️ Here is the testimony :
I'm a farmer, I live in Luszyn and I have a farm here, it's 500 hectares big.
I've noticed a climate changed since 6 years, summer is really hot and there is little rain which resaults in smaller crops.
If it's going to be like that I worry that crops will be smaller and smaller and all agriculture will decline.

➡️ An important reflection, I think :

Sometimes on my way, people who are a priori well-intentioned give themselves the mission to help me psychologically because they think, I would need it.

And there, often, a space is created between us.

Explanations.

I think, unless you have lived through situations similar to mine or other, it is not possible to take on this mission to help me really deeply.

And above all, when I don't ask for help.

I am happy to have to face my life even when it is difficult.
In this case, it can even becomes harmful to continue to want to help me.

Because to go further is to do someone a favor by letting them manage by themselves, by looking at them with benevolence.
Because his challenges are his own.
And allow him to move forward.
Only this person can cross them.

Often, just a warm, quiet place is enough to help.

And I'm really thankful for that!

And.. on the picture, my dear Attika during the last winter.
Just to show again, how beautiful she is :D

UPDATE

Edmée Mommeja, 24 years old
Traveller

On the way with a horse for now.

➡️ Short account of the journey, from the beginning to the current situation.

"I decided to travel with a camel, and I found one from a circus in France in beginning 2019.

We left France, from Attignat-Oncin in July 2019, for Mongolia.
The idea was to go far, learn from life, and be strong.
And be able to travel with minimal money.

Her name was Attika, 15 years old.

We walked (I was by foot) from France to Poland and spent the winter of 2019 in Poland with a woman and her son in Gabin. In central Poland.
I was able to work there for a while and I bought a horse to go with us.

Moris, 5 years old.

We were about to leave, after the winter, to continue to Mongolia.

But a few days later, my camel Attika died from an infection.

I continued for a while with my horse Moris, towards the south of Poland.

Then I found Mawamiss.

A camel, 11 years old.

Then I left again, with the horse and the camel (riding the horse, the camel taking care of luggages), to Germany to spend the winter of 2020.

Once I arrived in Germany, I decided to part with Mawamiss.

The journey together was difficult.
And it makes the whole situation uncomfortable and dangerous for everyone.

We were made to meet each other, she helped me digest the disappearance of Attika, my first camel.
She learned to become more warlike, travelling with us and facing so many new situations, and then she found the ideal home in France.

She lives in the exact place where I had the idea to go on a trip with a camel.

The circle is complete.
I've learn what I needed with these big creatures.
I can serenely continue my journey with Moris.

We will go East together.
In the spring."

➡️ Why this name of page?

I wanted to work to help society on my way.
Being in constant contact with people living in nature, I decided to ask them how they factually see climate change.

The change is there, it is concrete.
We have to adapt.
And to adapt to something, you have to know it.

Hence my approach.

Of course, there is also a preventive measure, because it is always possible to work to slow down change, too.

And so, on this page are :

➡️ Are some photos and presentations of the past camel adventure.

➡️ Testimonies of people about climate change.

⬇️ Here, France-Poland in pictures :
https://youtu.be/BJSRDpazSQ0

Thanks to Marion Munoz for the video.

➡️ I had another FB page colled : une fille, un chameau.
But this one has been taken into possession by too many unknown people when it was only intended for the people I met along the way, my friends and family.
So I removed it to open another one, public. This one.

A few days ago, we were 3 people, and a camel on its way to France.
She reached her destination and I accompanied her to the end.

I don't miss her because it was the only wise decision for everyone.

I am now alone with the horse.

We left the community where we were, to go back to the first person who welcomed us in Germany.

We are there well.

Moris, the horse (he has taken back his first name) is next to other horses and I have a caravan.

I work leather this winter, I learn alone but I have good advices if necessary.
This way I earn some money.

I don't have a regular income, and no more sponsors either.
On the road, I can sell some necklaces that I can make with my three wood knives.
I have money saved for emergencies.

We'll leave when it's time, heading east.
With a few kilos of stuff in the saddlebags.

The minimum because during these last times I have learned to listen and I realize that there is not much to live on.

So we will go east, but how far?
As far as we will need it.

Then, this page will only be dedicated to the publication of people's testimonies on climate change.

Part 11/11

FRANCE-POLAND

A few words to finish the story of the trip France Poland :

A few days after my arrival in Poland, I had a traumatic experience.
Thousands of people wanted to take hold of my story.
That, because of a journalist's mistake.
It was crazy.

Then I've spend the winter in different places, but mostly to a house of a polish doctor, in middle Poland, in Gabin.

I've been working a while, in an ognons fabric and as horse trainer.

Then, after the corona period, we took the road.
And I've loose my dear Attika.

Alone with the horse, we've continue until a farm where I found another camel.

One month to educate her, and we were on the road again.

Not for long, because we had to stay some times, in farm next a lake because my horse was limping, and I had to take some rest.
I prepared the equipment to spend the winter on the road in direction of Germany.

After 2 months, we started again.

Then, the corona virus started again and I made the choice to go to Germany by truck.

We are now, in Germany in a community.

I'm going to sell my camel, to continue only with the horse, in spring.
She is a good camel, but the travel with me, in these conditions, is not good.

I met many beautiful people, who opened their doors and their hearts to me.
For that, I am truly grateful to each and every one of them and I know how lucky I am.
I will never forget them.

REPORT FROM THE WEEK

We left Poland faster than expected.
The situation with the Corona virus was becoming more and more difficult for a traveler.
We are in Germany, in the house of someone who hosted us for 10 days.
The time to recover our minds.
We are in good shape now.
We are going to leave and walk a few days to get to the site for the winter.
In a community of gypsys.
Here I met travelers who follow a tradition of companionship after their studies. In Germany they are called: Wandergesellen.
We have a lot of fun together.
We also do serious things, like training my camel to teach her how to be ridden.
And I followed one of these guys, who is a blacksmith, during 1 day to learn how to take better care of the hooves of my horse.

FRANCE-POLAND
.. A few days of walking later, I had an appointment with some companions who came to join us by truck from the south of France.
A lot of luck to be able to share a part of this adventure with people I particularly like.
During the few days they were here, we walked together during the day, and in the evening we would hitch-hike to pick up the truck.

At that time, we arrived in the north of France.
When I was alone again, we went up to the German border and waited a few days for the last papers I needed, camping by a lake.

I also received help, especially from a nice farmer, who I will remember for his way of being. Humble and kind.

REPORT FROM THE WEEK

This week, we met people who helped us a lot.
One afternoon, we were walking in the forest when rangers found us.
They warned me that the next day there would be a hunt in the forest, and that it would be better for me not to be there.
I asked them if they knew a place to spend the night and the next day.
They had a colleague 2 kilometers away who had room for us.
We went there, accompanied by this colleague's son.
One moment, my horse got his feet stuck in the mud and lost one of his shoes.
We found it two days later, quite deep in the ground.
Luck!
On the video, the son who guided us on the bike. And who was able to film us a bit too.

Then later we went to the house of the forest ranger who had found us, on foot.
The luggage in the car.

And we spent a few days there.

In photo, the forest ranger who had found us, and at whose house we lived a little.

SECOND PART ON RADIO

Here, my second radio broadcast a few weeks ago.
I talk about my experience in Poland (always in French), and about all the adventures of this strange year.

https://www.allolaplanete.fr/podcastfilter/avec-mes-sabots/

Here, some details:

➡️ Arriving in Poland, which for me is a country with a different way of functioning from the few European countries I knew. Learning the rules.

➡️ Becoming a public figure in spite of myself, due to a TV appearance, when I only wanted to... escape the cold. I was asking to sleep at people houses on my way.
And having to finish the trip in a truck to avoid the paparazzis.

➡️ Having been welcomed for a few months in the village of Gabin, in the home of a woman and her son, the camel in the garden.

➡️ Having worked in a factory with onions, then as a horse trainer.

➡️ Having bought Clovis, konik polski of 5 years, and to train him.

➡️ Having found a travel companion, with his own camel, to go to Mongolia.
After 1 week of traveling together, to see him leave on his side one fine morning with his camel.

➡️ See my camel die in my arms one week after that.
Certainly an infection in the mouth/throat.
Then to go back alone with my horse, crying every time I am asked where my camel is.

➡️ Welcoming my sister and my mother on the way, for 2 weeks and walking together for a few days.

➡️ Arriving at a riding school where there is a camel for sale.
Decide to buy it.
Train her in 1 month and ride her and my horse on the road.

➡️ Finding great people on the road, and more, who will host me for 2 months while I get over it all.

➡️ Then go back to Germany with the idea of spending the winter there.

TESTIMONIAL
Today is stara kopernia village's one.

➡️ The story about :
I had been in Poland with Attika for some time. We had appointments with people who were ready to welcome us in a village. They had also planned in the village hall, a small gathering of people who village on the occasion of our passage.
During this gathering, between two small cakes, I suggested that the guests discuss among themselves how they see climate change.
So they took papers, discussed, and a person who spoke good English did the translation, and then I recorded it.

➡️ Here is the testimony :
There have been numerous changes in our climate during the last few years. During the summer (May-September) droughts are common, rain is more scarce than it used to be. Winters are a lot warmer. There is no frost and the snow doesn't fall as often as in the past and the snowy season is significantly shorter. This causes big problems for crops, plants don’t grow, trees are weaker, in particular deciduous trees. A few years ago coniferous trees would spread needles and fruit trees would produce more fruits. Moreover, the winds are significantly stronger. We have experienced more frequent tornadoes which would never have been possible before. This year, during the summer it only rained a few times and when it did, it came in the form of downpours that were abrupt and substantial. This harms the crops. Bees are also dying because winter wasn't strong enough. Bees must rest during the winter to be ready to work in spring.

Part 6/11

FRANCE-POLAND

Then I continued alone again, with my camel. We went along the Saverne canal.
We almost arrived in the north of France.
One evening, we arrived in a city, which we crossed and camped not far from the center, in a very small space belonging to nobody.
On the way we met, on the other side of the river bank, 3 boys of my age, with a bow.
Just for that alone, they looked very cool.
So they came, with another girl to spend some time together later, on the camp.
It's a rare thing, during my trip, I meet young people of my age and spend time together.
In general, the people I meet are older.

TESTIMONIAL

Today is Family Wielki's one.

➡️ The story about :
I arrived one day in a family with my camel. People were waiting for us.
My camel had a good field.
And me, a good dinner with nice people.

➡️ Here is her testimony :

Over the past 20 years our climate has changed about 180%. There has been no winter for the past 8 years. Summer temperatures get up to about 38 degrees whereas before the maximum was 30. There is no rain, about 50% less than 3 years ago. There is a lot of wind, destroying houses and farms. 20 years ago we didn't need any chemicals, now we put 5 times more because of all the new bacteria.
