Unfortunately, I'm really good at procrastinating. Like, really good. However, being someone trying to balance work and school, it's something I'm trying NOT to be good at.
I came across this article recently and apparently one way to overcome procrastination is to rephrase your internal dialog by simply telling yourself "I choose to" instead of "I need to".
The phrases "I need to" or "I have to" imply that you have no choice in what you do, making you feel discouraged. However, saying "I choose to" implies you own a project, therefore making you feel in control.
I just thought it was interesting how something as easy as a change in vocab could completely change your mindset. My main takeaway from this is how powerful our words actually are. How about yours? If anyone needs a mental reset, I hope this helps! :)
