Quechan Wellbriety Heal the individual, then comes the Family and Community. Traditions and Culture are Sacred. Here is my journey that started on August 8, 2013.

I am the grand daughter of Nina Escalanti and an enrolled member of the Quechan Indian Tribe, born and raised on the Quechan Reservation in Winterhaven, CA. I went to college for pre-med and recently changed majors to study addiction/treatment after the passing of my brother Francisco 'Javi' Ortega. Join me to help those recovering from Intergenerational Trauma, Domestic Violence, Substance Abuse,

and create a 'Healing Community'. Also here for CODA, NAR-ANON, Al-Anon etc. My goal is to create a cultural Healing Community that incorporates our own Kwatsaan culture and traditions.

Here is some information if you are wondering what it means:

WHAT IS THE RED ROAD?
The Red Road is a phrase frequently used by Natives signifying a deep commitment to living life in the best way possible — with an intrinsic respect for others, oneself, and creation and a dedication to worshipping the Creator. It also means turning one’s back on addiction to drugs, alcohol and anything else that may damage yourself or others.

In Christian culture, The Red Road similarly represents the blood-stained road that led Jesus to the cross after having lived His best life and given his own life for those of his followers.

In 1999, Charles Robinson discovered very serious misperceptions regarding Native Americans and has since developed programs to teach students.

The high prevalence of alcohol use and its consequences among American Indians may be attributed to a number of factors, including the influence of the European colonists who first made large amounts of alcohol available to Indians, as well as current social and cultural factors. Efforts to prevent and treat alcohol problems among the American Indian population may be more effective if native beliefs and approaches are incorporated. Alcohol problems also may be prevented through policies regulating the sale and use of alcohol in Indian communities.

When someone is broken, don’t try to fix them. You can’t.

When someone is hurting, don’t attempt to take away their pain. You can’t.

Instead, love them by walking beside them in the hurt. You can.

Because sometimes what people need is simply to know they aren’t alone.
