In this episode of BEECH PARTY - your host Beechy pays tribute to one of the greatest DJs to ever do it. With a very special 1hr mix, Beechy plays remixes, edits and productions from the legend DAVE LEE.

Dave has gone under many aliases over many decades, including Joey Negro, Jakatta, Raven Maize, Doug Willis as well as championing the Sunburst Band. Throughout the 2010s and beyond - Dave Lee has released a trilogy of phenomenal 'Remixed With Love' albums that deliver incredible, tasteful, respectful and faithful remixes of classics and forgotten disco gems. In this mix, Beechy takes you through some of the biggest stompers on those albums - before taking you down memory lane with some of his biggest and best productions of the late 90s and 00s... including a Chaka Khan cover, a Sunburst Band original and a flip of a Masters At Work classic featuring house music vocal queen India.

Quick story time about the thumbnail. I met Dave at a festival in Croatia in the summer of 2021. They say never meet your idols, but I did, and it was awesome. Before this snap was taken - I had the privilege of telling Dave that there isn't a set of mine that goes by without a remix of his - Dave, being as cool as a cucumber, replied that "they must be really good sets then!". Dave is my biggest influence bar none - and chatting with him was without a doubt a catalyst for starting this groove thang we call Beech Party. I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I did recording it - as the man himself said... it must be a really good set!

In this brand new episode of BEECH PARTY - your host Beechy serves up a tribute to one of the best remixers in the disco and house scene. The man from a land down under - Greg Packer AKA Dr Packer. In my history of DJ'ing, I can always count on Packer for a beefed-up remix of an old funk or disco classic - and to pay homage to him was one of my first ideas for Beech Party.

"Inspired by the work of high profile, fellow Australia resident Late Nite Tuff Guy, Dr Packer has entered the international disco consciousness thanks to his own finely crafted reworks. 🕺🕺 BEECH PARTY 05 - A TRIBUTE TO THE REFLEX 🕺🕺

those of you who know my sets - know that i love to blend house music with disco and funk. there is no one else in the game that can edit an old disco classic quite like The Reflex. i've followed the reflex for many years - he's beefed out my sets with so many classics that i felt it was important to shine a light on someone who inspired me and helped me improve massively as a dj. in this set, you'll hear some of my favourite multi-stem reflex revisions, including flips of michael jackson, idris muhammed, talking heads, curtis mayfield and marvin gaye. i hope you enjoy - this set felt totally natural to me and it was a pleasure to mix.

two things of note:

1) i really don’t use facebook as much as someone running a small business probably should. i’m much more active on instagram

2) i’ve been working really hard on a web series called BEECH PARTY where i go b2b with my dj friends, unsung heroes and local legends. the first ep - a BEECHY special full of latin and vocal house - is almost ready and will be released basically everywhere on saturday.

It's been such a busy couple of weeks for me that I've not had much time to update this page! So consider this a mega-post of what I've been up to lately and four supa-hot mixes for your listening pleasure. It's been so cathartic to stretch out my musical muscles after such a long time away and really deliver to you what that Beechy sound is all about, and I think these mixes really exemplify the corners of disco and house that I really love. There's elements of funk, jazz, rare groove and minimal peppered throughout these that I'm really happy with - and I really hope you enjoy!

What a thrill it was to return to the decks, and what better place than the wonderful Birdies. The energy on the streets of Liverpool was totally vibrant as I drove in, and that carried on through to the Birdies beer garden. The crew have gone above and beyond to make the place COVID-secure and look absolutely gorgeous too. It was ace to play a chilled, groovin set in the afternoon and in the outdoors. Delicious BBQ scents, smiles on faces, heads boppin and foots tappin. A breezy Beechy set, and it's available for your listening pleasure.

It's been a hot minute since I published a mix out for public consumption. This is the first chapter in a new mix series entitled 'oh snap beechy's in the house'. Throughout the series, I'll be exploring different corners of the house that I love to step in. For the first installment - I'm keeping things highly lo-fi with flavours of funk and jazz. I can't wait to return to Birdies Bar & BBQ - there's such an energy in there that I've sorely missed throughout this crazy time. We OWE ourselves a boogie! I'm so tired of playing endless Playstation and watching classic professional wrestling... actually no.. that's a god damn lie - I love it so much... but what I love MORE is making you sexy funksters two steppin to my disco beats. 🌐

After seven (7) months of being away from any gigs - not counting a couple occasions on your interwebs - I’m buzzing to be back at one of my favourite haunts .

They’ve done up the gaff big time since I last played earlier this year and it’s going to feel so good to blast out some quality hip hop beats to all you automatic supersonic hypnotic funky fresh putters. I’ve been stuck in the 90s throughout corona season and I’m picturing some real godfathers of hip hop mixes u get me.

was one of my favourite ever venues and i’ll remember the many memories i’ve had in that wonderful dugout tucked underneath oxford road station. here is my most treasured of them all - being able to witness do his thing, front row no barrier. Seems unfathomable now to catch him in such a small spot now. I know it’s been a hard time lately but SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VENUES. They’re important.
