Diving, Hiking and Fishing in Albay, Philippines 2020 | JGY Studios Travel Vlog
In a span of less than three weeks, the Bicol Region in the Philippines was hit by a series of typhoons while dealing with the COVID-19 global pandemic. The most notable ones are Quinta (Molave), Rolly (Goni) and Ulysses (Vamco). All of these happened during my stay in Albay.
I have seen the resilience of the Bicolanos / Oragons during these tough times. Some houses were buried by thick and wet lahar, and most of the roofs were blown off by powerful and destructible winds. Their means of livelihood were severely affected. The estimated cost of agricultural damage is up to Php 4.6 billion. At the time of this post, power has not yet been restored in most parts of Albay, and there are still people staying in evacuation centers.
To encourage positivity, I am sharing this video that I made prior to the series of typhoons which devastated the Bicol Region. I know that it’s only just a matter of time until this province will rise again and show its beauty to the world.
