🌳 "Strategies to stop deforestation and protect forests include: public policy and the enforcement of existing anti-logging laws; market-driven mechanisms, primarily eco-certification programs that inform consumers and affect purchasing decisions; and programs that enable wealthy nations and corporations to make payments to countries and communities for maintaining their forests."

❔ Can we tolerate those who actively spread misinformation about climate change in order to delay action? Perhaps we first need to consider the fossil fuel companies that fund such foundations/organisations as enemies with antagonistic interests? The CO2 Coalition is just one example.
🧐 The CO2 Coalition co-signed "Letter to President Trump in support of campaign commitments to withdraw from the Paris Climate Treaty" in 2017.

"While marine ecosystems have evolved within a certain coping range, and can adapt to conditions slightly outside that range, marine heatwaves manifest as extreme events that lead to ecosystem vulnerabilities. In a warmer climate we are more likely to experience these vulnerability-causing extremes"

😶“Bell curve shifts shown for 2009-2019 result from global warming of ~0.9°C relative to 1951-80. Thus 2°C warming relative to pre-industrial (1.7°Crelative to 1951-1980) will result in bell curve shifts and climate impacts about double those that have occurred already.”

🛍▶️“Globally, we produce roughly 310 million tons of plastic each year. Almost all of it is petro-plastic, made from fossil fuels. Experts, however, estimate that 90 percent of current plastics could be derived from plants instead.”
✅"A weighted average based on type of plastic and market share results in approximately 0.933 units of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions per unit of bioplastic produced, compared to traditional plastics, which have direct emission of approximately 2.4."

‼️"Climate facts are not climate opinions"
"The CO2 Coalition’s use of Facebook’s op-ed loophole “fits right back into that strategy of trying to promulgate misinformation to the public in order to keep alive the lack of public concern over climate change, to stop meaningful action to address it,” "

A group with ties to the fossil fuel industry plans to use Facebook's op-ed loophole to spread climate misinformation.

💡✅“The main threat to tree species in Europe has been identified as invasive or problematic species, impacting 38% of tree species, followed by deforestation and wood harvesting, and urban development (both affecting 20% of tree species). For threatened species, livestock farming, land abandonment, changes in forest and woodland management, and other ecosystem modifications such as fire are the major threats, impacting the survival of trees.”

⁉️ Last day of June 2020, the first half of 2020 is already over! International meetings on climate and biodiversity have been postponed (COP26 will take place in Glasgow in 2021, etc.).
What are we waiting for to take action act and make 2020 a year of climate action? The solutions already exist!
