Good evening VK75FAA team. Due to the severe weather overnight we made a decision around 5am not to go to Nowra.

Inasmuch as we had a good dry location to work from at Nowra, we decided that there were risks travelling the 150km there and 150km back, and even back at home while were gone.

Mal & Trevor operated instead from a portable location near Campbelltown South West of Sydney.

We had the benefit of the back up plan of having a pre-recorded address from Commodore David Frost, Commander Fleet Air and put this to air as planned at 1115 and then replayed before closing at 1400.

Unfortunately we had no traffic on the 30m band (10.125 MHz) but had reasonable success on 40m (7.165 MHz) making 35 contacts over 4 hours.

We thank all who made contact, and those who gave it a go but might not have got through.

We hope to be on air for the rescheduled Fleet Air Arm Open Day (to be announced) and on October 22nd when HMAS Albatross will exercise the Freedom Of Entry to the City of Shoalhaven.

A special thanks to Jan VK2FEB and Irene VK2VAN who helped with logistics, and to Nicholas VK2MYK, Paul VK2HDX and Mark VK2MOH who were originally on the Nowra team.

The Fleet Air Arm Open Day has been postponed.

The VK75FAA Special Event Amateur Radio Station will operate as planned from the Fleet Air Arm Museum at HMAS Albatross, Nowra NSW Australia, on Sunday 3rd July, from 0000 UTC / GMT.

30/06/2022

Unfortunately a severe rain event may affect the actual Fleet Air Arm Open Day on 3rd July.

We have discussed this with FAA HQ and the VK75FAA Special Event Amateur Radio Station operation will still go ahead if the actual Open Day is cancelled.

For those interested in listening in to VK75FAA activities, there are such devices as remote receivers which are SDRs or software defined radios.

You can choose receiving stations all over the world, but perhaps narrow your choice to a station on the south east coast of Australia, through the search function.

See previous posts for our 3rd July schedule.

Our operating frequencies will around 7.165 MHz or 7165 kHz, and 10.125 MHz or 10125 kHz.

Entered as 7165 or 10125 on the SDR Control.
