And Steph did It. Tatum was not ready for the moment tbvh, but all credit to Steph for taking what the defense gave him. They played drop, he gave em 40, they played up on him he dished out assist and let the game come to him, and in turn, It let Wiggins, Klay, Poole and Draymond come into their own last game, which led to them playing well as a unit this game. Basketball is about momentum and i felt the momentum shift after the Warriors won a game they should not have won and tied the series at 2-2. From there, It was experience and the Warriors, especially Steph showed It. Their confidence never wavered and they handled the Celtics these last two games very comfortably, while the Celtics continued to struggle holding on to the ball and getting good shots. Congrats to them boys, they did their thing 🫡🤧
I don’t like to use peoples insecurities against them, but I think this is a real thing for Tatum. Last night, the 13 assist were amazing for a star player who doesn’t have It going, but it’s another thing to air ball 3s and miss wide open shots you make 9/10 times. I think being in his first Finals @ the Warriors def got to him and Brown, but Brown kept shooting. Despite Tatum’s awesome games, Jaylen Brown is the player that leads ALL players in the playoffs in fourth quarter scoring. If the Celtics are truly going to win this series, Tatum needs to be the best version of himself. He needs to drive with intention to score and put more pressure on the Warriors because they’ll adjust and not send as many bodies his way if he’s not going to be aggressive. The ‘others’ had their game last night and we’re going to need a Tatum game or two at some point cus that’s just how this sh*t goes 😁.
Tatum had a horrible game - he looked scared. That’s why i noted i was scared of the experience the Warriors had versus Tatum and Brown being in their first finals. Brown stepped up with a strong double digit 4th quarter and of course Al Horford being a veteran and White stepped up huge. Steph having 21 in the first was due to them not hedging off the picks and Steph had open looks. As soon as the Celtics adjusted to playing up on the screen, Steph scored only 13 in 3 more quarters. This was a bad game for the Warriors to lose because a young team will only gain more confidence as the series goes on, especially when they touch their home court!
Bam playing like this is a key to Miami winning this series. He keeps Al Horford honest and at times might even make him unplayable if It looks like he can’t keep up with Bam’s mobility. It’ll force other players on the Celtics to hedge more and that’ll create lanes and openings for other Heat players to score. Having Lowry was also a plus. The Heat won a grind it out game last night. Still need to see more from Herro tho.
Great bounce back by the Cs. Marcus Smart was elite tonight and JT and JB played well early to set the tone. The Celtics defense can be just as good as the Heat, so they held everyone outside of Jimmy to calm games. Herro needs to be better, Bam needs to be better, and Oladipo need to be better, simple as that. Like previously mentioned, they will not win this series if the above guys do not match the scoring output that JT, JB and Smart bring. Simple as that.
The 3rd quarter is where this game opened up. The Celtics did exactly what i thought they would do. They played through JT and JB and their role players stepped in and made shots. The Bucks played a good brand of basketball too. Utilized their length, had Lopez play big, and generated a lot of open 3s. The difference was that the Celtics role players hit their shots, and the Bucks role players didn’t. That’s part of the home court advantage too. Tough L for the Bucks, but i feel like this L is more telling about the type of coach Bud is. That shouldn’t have happened to this team.
The Warriors are going to win this game but i hope everyone sees the glaring weaknesses with this team that I’ve been talking about all season. This is a championship/veteran team, and they honestly don’t look that way at times. High turnovers, bad shot selection and they don’t have a legit closer to rely on. This series should not have been competitive imo, and the only reason why they probably one is because Ja was out + Memphis’s frontcourt is not mobile. Kevon Looney out hustled em for 20+ boards (what the f**k?). Whoever they match up against in the WCF will beat em, I’m almost positive.
Had the Celtics winning this series and I’ll stick by It. The Celtics let a few games slip and i think that comes with the growing pains of a young team, but they showed out this game. Tatum was a star throughout and Jaylen Brown turned up the whole 3rd quarter. Giannis is great, but if the Celtics can stop the others from going off, let Giannis score half that teams points. Boston is going to be rocking for game 7.
I’ve been watching Jrue Holiday and you can tell he takes this defensive matchup serious. He was the guard that everyone mentioned when they talked about underrated players and underrated defenders. Then all of a sudden, a media wave that pushed Marcus Smart as a candidate who can actually win the title. Jrue saves and seals the game on pure defensive effort is a shot at Smart and the Celtics. The Celtics flopped this one… no cap.
Ommmmg. Go at him JB! 🎥: @leaguealerts
Sheesh It might just be Embiid > Jokic 👀. He did say he was Shaq, Kobe, and Hakeem in one. This cold from a Center but the 76ers will lose in the next round if Harden doesn’t fix up.
When it’s all said and done. This man will go down as the 🐐! (via @lakers)
Look for Dwight to try and provide that spark for the Lakers tonight. He’s a 3 time DPOY and can play a lot more aggressive on Jokic because they aren’t worried about him getting into foul trouble, since they aren’t counting on his production offensively and they have Mcgee & AD who can matchup against Jokic throughout the game. Containing Jokic means to contain this Nugget offense.
Jokic is the best offensive Center in the game, until Anthony Davis decides to play Center 😈. The Nuggets 2 man game dominated the Clippers because Harrell was undersized at 6’7 and Zubac wasn’t mobile enough to keep up with Jokic. Same thing with the Jazz, with Gobert who is more of a rim protector. Now imagine the same type of rim protector, with a mobile 5 that can switch and guard the pick and roll & pick and pop? Jokic’s biggest threat this post season will be playing against bigs who can actually defend (AD & Dwight) while also having to guard AD at the other end - something he hasn’t been forced to do yet. Should be a fun series to watch.
The Clippers have the most talented team on paper, but that doesn’t always translate to post season success. Tonight is going to be scary for Clipper fans. Tap in
Westbrook needs to make these shots for the Rockets to have a chance. If Westbrook’s shot is not falling, he needs to continue to penetrate to hopefully create for his shooters. The Rockets are playing Rondo the same exact way (even though the Lakers are forcing Westbrook to finish amongst the trees), but Rondo probes more looking to pass. We love Westbrook’s athleticism and his relentlessness when attacking the rim, but if he’s not hitting his 3pt shots, and especially his midrange shots, then he should look to probe more to hopefully dish out to his shooters. This is why the in-between game, and having multiple moves within the 3pt line is still very important. Don’t let them tell you otherwise 😎
