📢📢📢Update📢📢📢

Hi friends, thanks to all of you who have reached out in the past few weeks with ideas for things we could cover, or to ask us how we are going to move forward now that WGA is coming to an agreement with the major studios. We met this week to discuss how to move forward and decided the following:

👉 We are *thrilled* the WGA seems to have arrived at a deal and has given its members the go-ahead to return to work. However, with SAG-AFTRA still on strike, we feel that out of solidarity, we can’t yet start streaming Delicate until the conflict is resolved across both unions. Once the actors union announces an agreement, we’ll kickstart our viewing of AHS.

👉 A few people suggested we read the book “Delicate Condition,” which this season is based on, and review that instead. We thought about this hard, and decided against it for this primary reason: Reading the book first will ultimately spoil the show for us and our listeners. Plus, a ‘book club’ podcast has a different vibe than a TV/movie rewatch podcast, and for that reason, there may only be a small contingent of listeners who are interested in following along with the book discussion.

👉 So, until a SAG-AFTRA deal is reached, we’ve decided to do regular reviews of independent horror films from studios like A24 and others that have been granted production exceptions by the unions. We will put a calendar together and share our plan with you soon — with our first episode dropping next week!

A MESSAGE FROM KRIS & TYLER:

“This American Horror Story” podcast supports the Writers Guild of America and SAG AFTRA strikes. We are both writers and journalists who recognize that rights must be fought for and unions are important, especially in the new streaming era. Without the writers and actors, we wouldn’t have great shows like American Horror Story to recap while we sip bourbon and cider.

We were dismayed to read that several actors and notable staff crossed the picket line where “AHS: Delicate” continued to be filmed after the strike began. And while it seems to be a little gray when it comes to what contract obligations they had and whether any writing is actually occurring on set, we still feel compelled to stand with the writers and support the strike.

For that reason, we will not be covering Delicate or AHS: Stories until the strike ends. We love this AHS community and know not all will agree with our decision, but we believe that morally it’s the right thing to do.

We’ll be releasing a short update in the TAHS podcast feed within the next couple of weeks that further explains the strike, our position, and shares ways that all of us can further support the WGA. So stay tuned, and in the meantime, happy hauntings.
