Giving back to your community doesn't have to be complicated. Small, consistent acts of generosity build into big impact. Such is the case with local businesses integrating giving into their regular operating practices. Here are two great ways to engage your customers in your giving strategy, and you barely have to lift a finger to do it:

1 - If you're a contract based business, for every contract you get, donate to a beloved local cause, like a food bank. Let your customers know that by doing business with you, they're helping to support their community by eradicating food insecurity.
2 - If you live off of reviews, you can tell your customers that for every review posted, you'll make a donation to another beloved nonprofit, like a local animal shelter. Tell them that each time they take 2 minutes to complete a review, they're helping care for and find loving homes for homeless dogs and cats.

Following up and making those donations with Givio couldn't be easier. Just open the app, tap, give and go! No need to pull out a credit card, or fill out long forms.

Donations made to your campaign are visible in real-time, so your customers can see the impact you're making, together.

And all of your donation records are right there where you need them -- always a big favorite among accountants!

Giving back shouldn't be complicated -- and with the Givio mobile app, it isn't!

Meet team Zhyty Khochu. A group of good friends scattered around the US, Ukraine, Hungary and other Eastern European locations. When the war started, they sprung into action and gathered resources to help the people of Ukraine.

While it began as an impromptu effort to help bring refugees across the Hungarian border into safety, their efforts have rapidly transformed into those of a well-organized nonprofit, dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to civilian hospitals and territorial defense units across hot spots in Ukraine. With lightening speed, this powerful team has assessed needs, built a fundraising network, developed relationships with US and European suppliers, civilian hospitals, territorial defense units and grassroots Ukrainian organizations to purchase and transport lifesaving supplies.

Their name, Zhyty Khochu means "I Want to Live" in Ukrainian.

If you want to help team Zhyty with their important mission, you can donate via the link https://app.giv.io/campaign/332/

Today marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month! Did you know that approximately 18% of the United States population has Hispanic or Latino origins? Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the histories, cultures contributions and achievements of our American citizens who have Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean and Central or South American origin. From September 15th through October 15th we not only recognize and appreciate these Hispanic cultures, we celebrate the anniversaries of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile and Belize. Many organizations across the nation are serving the Hispanic and Latino population through advocacy, education, healthcare, and social services -- not just this month, but all year long. One of our favorite organizations is the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education. They work to empower families and provide scholarships and support services to as many Hispanic American students as possible. To date they have awarded over $588 million in scholarships and have delivered programs and support services for students and parents, HSF Scholars, and alumni. HSF strives to make college education a top priority for every Latino family across the nation, providing them the tools they need to do well in their course work, graduate, successfully enter a career field and mentor the generations to come. Happy National Grandparents Day! Today is a day to honor our grandparents and celebrate the connections between generations. A day to recognize the love, strength, wisdom and guidance that older people have to offer. A day to not only dote on our grandparents, but to give them an opportunity to show their love in return. So whether it's mask-to-mask, zoom-to-zoom or a good-old-fashioned letter, reach out to your grandparents and let them know how much they're appreciated. And if you happen to be one of those hip grandparents scrolling through your insta feed, we appreciate you! And we're sending you a big, warm, virtual hug!

Did you know that there is a nonprofit organization devoted to creating a country where all generations are valued, respected and supported? Generations United seeks to improve the lives and connections between young and old through targeted strategies, programs, collaborations and public policies. Their goal is to CONNECT generations, to create positive change by bringing the oldest and youngest members of society TOGETHER, rather than allowing their differences to separate them. Starting in 2012, has run an annual campaign to celebrate Grandparents Day. encourages all generations to use this day and engage with another generation. We're on board! Are you?

September 11, 2001. A day that forever changed us. A day that claimed the lives of 2,977 individuals and injured more than 6,000 others. A day that devastated our nation, but also UNITED us. Americans far and wide came together to lend support, raise money and honor our loved ones, families, brothers, sisters and first responders. Today, on the 19th anniversary of that fateful day, we not only remember those we lost, but we are thinking about our first responders. The unsung heroes pulling people from wrecked vehicles, restarting hearts, the front line of a pandemic, battling wildfires, and so much more. If you're not quite sure the best way to honor the memory of those lost on 9/11, or the every day heroes that continue to put their lives on the line to save others, consider donating to your local volunteer fire and rescue organization. There are more than 6,200 volunteer fire and rescue departments in the Givio app (link below). Find yours and show your support. Thank you.

Literacy is the basis for learning. Essential for human and social development, it opens doors to communication, understanding, exploration, and ideation. Literacy doesn't just enable a person to elevate their quality of life through opportunity and advancement -- it can lift up entire communities, cities and nations when the majority or all citizens become literate.

If you're reading this, you might be so accustomed to literacy in your community it doesn't always hit home that there are still huge portions of our local and global population that cannot read or write in their own language. And what goes hand in hand with illiteracy? Poverty. Strife. Poor health. Limited opportunity. Which is why it's so important that those who CAN, help those who CAN'T. Enter, Room to Read.

Room to Read has set out to transform the lives of children in low-income communities around the world. Since 2014, they have reached over 18 million children in 14 countries across Africa and Asia with both their literacy and gender equality in education programs.

The Literacy Program develops literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children. This is accomplished through the transformation of school environments -- providing structured libraries, books in the children’s local language and ensuring each school has trained teachers and librarians.

In addition to their literacy outreach, Room to Read has a Girls Education Program that focuses exclusively on gender equality in education. This program is invaluable in the lives of these girls, who often leave school at a young age or don’t have opportunities for educational advancement. By working together with community parents, school staff, and local mentors, Room to Read helps girls stay in school to continue their education and navigate the challenges of adolescence through the lens of knowledge and opportunity.

This is Grace Callwood. You might not recognize her name, but you will. She is a giver. She is a difference-maker.

From the age of 2, Grace was always thinking of others. She had her parents donate a red wagon to the local medical center pediatric unit, and for her 3rd birthday she requested her guests give toys and games to that same pediatric unit. Again at age 4, she worked with her family to donate non-perishable food items to a Hurricane Katrina relief organization. Then, at the age of 7, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Despite her own struggle and chemotherapy treatments, Grace was still thinking of others. She realized that even though she was fighting cancer (she is cancer free!), she could still make a difference in the lives of children in unfortunate situations. The We Cancerve Movement was born.

We Cancerve Movement is a nonprofit foundation that brings happiness to homeless, sick and foster youth. The nonprofit's programs and initiatives have reached nearly 20,000 children since it was founded in 2012. Their programming has included cash grants and product donations to hospitals, homeless shelters, transitional programs, food banks, foster homes and orphanages. This is an organization that provides happiness to children not just in the United States, but also those in Kenya and Namibia. This happiness might come in the form of back-to-school clothing for the underprivileged, special kits to help hospitalized children decorate their IV poles or breakfast bags for homeless youth. We Cancerve has also created summer camps for the homeless, a group home and even a free boutique offering shoes, clothes and jewelry appropriate for work and worship for teen girls living in a foster care.

All of this has been accomplished by Grace Callwood (age 15) and her all-youth board of advisors at . This group is a testament to the fact that you are never too young to think of others. Never too young to make a difference in someone’s life. Never too young to make this world a better place.

“We envision a world in which farmed animals are seen as individuals and treated with empathy and compassion.” – Dan McKernan, Founder and President

The Barn Sanctuary, featured on the television show Saved by the Barn (Animal Planet), has set out to change the way the world views farmed animals. Dan McKernan and his team have dedicated themselves to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected farm animals, providing them the individualized respect, love and empathy they deserve. Established in 2016, The Barn Sanctuary is now home to over 100 rescued animals including, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep and goats. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, they rely 100% on donor support to do their life-saving work. Day in and day out, they work tirelessly to give these animals a life of quality -- even if that means taking on some high-risk, challenging cases.

Just this week The Barn Sanctuary has decided to take on the case of Cora Jr., a baby calf who ran into a fence post and lost all mobility in her legs. After consulting numerous veterinarians and hospitals, and in lieu of euthanasia or massive surgeries, they have decided to bring Cora Jr. to the farm and begin her extensive recovery. Their mission is to restore her ability to walk, through 6 months or more of physical therapy, all while facing only a 50/50 chance of success. To help Cora Jr. through this process they require a cow float tank, a lift/hoist system, water tank, water pump and a harness. If this need wasn’t already great, they have 2 other young calves (Dexter, pictured) who also require months of physical therapy.

So they’ve asked for help. Every donation will go towards acquiring the specialized equipment and medical treatment that Cora Jr., Dexter and other animals require to learn to walk again and live full, healthy lives on the farm. To donate to The Barn Sanctuary, click the link below!

26/08/2020

To all the ladies out there...Happy Women's Equality Day! This day encourages us to celebrate how far we've come since the days when women were considered "the weaker s*x" with little to no rights, but it also brings to light all the work that STILL needs to be done to ensure equal rights for ALL women. Afterall, it was 100 years ago that the first women finally won the right to vote -- but it was a right reserved for white women only. It would take many more decades, marches and bills before the Voting Rights Act passed, allowing ALL women to vote, regardless of origin or race.

Because of countless brave, passionate women, we are where we are today. These women stood up against inequality, often in the face of great danger. Women like Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Nannie Helen Burroughs, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Bella Abzug, Coretta Scott King, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and so many more.

It is up to us to bridge the gaps between inequality today and create a more equal future for the generations to come. Issues like equal pay, opportunities for education and healthcare, and yes, even voting (still) require our attention, our voice and our vigilance. So what can we do? Well, we can start by exercising our right to vote and make our voices heard by our elected officials. We need to support those organizations that have made it their mission to continue to seek progress and create positive change.

One such organization is She Should Run, a nonpartisan, DC-based nonprofit working to identify and knock down the barriers of women in elected leadership – creating more female leaders, role models and building a more effective and representative government. Their vision is -- a goal to have 250,000 women run for local, state and federal offices by 2030.

Women's equality has always been a goal for the future. Let's make it a reality, TODAY. To donate to She Should Run, click the link below:

Today is National Dog Day! But let’s be honest…every day should be a day to celebrate dogs. Today we want to applaud those who’ve made it their mission to find loving, forever homes for our furry, faithful friends. Once such organization is the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF), a Virginia-based, mostly volunteer-run organization with a small paid staff providing direct care to animals at both their Rescue Care Center in Falls Church, and The Lost Dog Ranch in Sumerduck. In addition, LDCRF holds off-site adoption events every weekend at local pet stores and utilizes a network of volunteer foster homes to care for the animals until they are adopted. Since their founding in 2001, LDCRF has saved the lives of more than 40,000 pets, most of whom were facing the threat of euthanasia at over-crowded municipal shelters.

About Givio - The Giving App

In late-2019 a little group of former nonprofit insiders, techies, philanthropists, and crusaders for all-things-good went to work building an inspired new giving tool. Their goal: to build a giving application engineered entirely for givers, like you.

Why?

Because giving depends on the giver. Seems pretty obvious. Yet if you gaze across the history of giving, the process is always focused on the destination of the gift or the needs of the company building the giving application. It’s never really been about the people fueling all those missions. The result: a frustrating giving experience. And frankly, that just dulls the shine off doing something good.

Maybe it’s why the giving ‘industry’ suffers a ridiculously high ‘cart abandonment’ rate. Translation: nearly three-quarters of people who start to make a donation end up bailing out. Think about that. That’s a lot of money not making it to good causes. It’s also a pretty big clue that something is wrong with the process. Which is why you’re here right now, isn’t it?
