Based on the laboratory examination conducted, shellfish meat samples collected from the following areas are POSITIVE with Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) toxin:
1. Cancabato Bay in Tacloban City
2. Ormoc Bay in Leyte (Albuera, Ormoc City, and Merida)
3. Carigara Bay in Leyte (Capoocan, Carigara, Barugo, San Miguel, and Babatngon)
4. Coastal Waters of Leyte, Leyte
5. Cambatutay Bay in Tarangnan, Samar
6. San Pedro Bay in Basey, Samar
7. Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar (General MacArthur, Hernani, Quinapondan, and Salcedo)
8. Coastal Waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
9. Biliran Island
The same LOCAL RED TIDE ADVISORIES is still placed in IRONG-IRONG BAY (Local Advisory, September 6, 2021) covering Catbalogan, Samar.
Hence, the public is advised to REFRAIN from GATHERING, SELLING and EATING all types of shellfishes and "Alamang or Hipon" from these bays to avoid possible shellfish poisoning.
Fish, squid, crab, and shrimp gathered from the above-mentioned areas are safe to eat provided that all entrails are removed and washed thoroughly with running water before cooking.
