He was an attendee at the infamous Appalachian Mafia Summit in 1957. Cerrito also had numerous wildly successful legitimate businesses including a massive ford dealership. He would sue LIFE Magazine in 1967 for writing about his mafia exploits. He was murdered for welcoming in FBI agent Joe Pistone into his crew. In reality Big Joey Massino wanted him dead because he saw him as his only threat to take over the family. He used the Donnie Brasco situation as an excuse. The tough SOB Sonny Black told his killers after being shot “hit me again but make it good”
