Sorry to report that Community Noise is officially on hiatus now. I'll leave this page active for now, I guess.

However, I received a note from FB that this page may be deleted due to IP infringement of one particular post. Bo****ks -- which post? So, this page may disappear.

This week on Community Noise, we celebrate John Cale for the first hour, and return to our typical schizophrenic programming for the second our.

Normally, we would celebrate Cale in March, he is a fellow Pieces, but he has a new album out now, so ... We will have several examples of his multi-genre solo work, one VU track, and a sampling of others' works that he has produced.

Community Noise airs Wednesday evenings 8-10pm and Thursday mornings 8-10am on KBFG 107.3 North Seattle, and streaming from www.KBFGseattle.org/listen .

This week on Community Noise, a strange and excellent show awaits you. A current project has our household locked into the 1950s, and I’ve been using a playlist of mostly 1950s stuff to help with atmosphere, and therefore almost all of this show is locked into the 1950s. The boogie woogie stuff is earlier, but useful to the playlist, and we also play side B of the Brian Eno / Jah Wobble collaborative album, Spinner, which completes a task previous started.

So that’s ep 426 – 1950s jazz, early rock ‘n’ roll, some boogie-woogie, and the Eno/Wobble thing. Great show.

Community Noise airs Wednesday evenings, 8-10pm and repeats Thursday mornings 8-10am on KBFG 107.3 North Seattle and streaming from www.KBFGseattle.org/listen

The past couple of weeks, my household has been listening to a lot of Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, and other 1950s jazz. I have a writing project that is embedded in the 1950s, and I'm doing some background listening.

In my head, I can hear Frank singing "There's a Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder" it's one of his best songs. And I thought, "yes, that's what I want to play on my show this week." The thing is, I can find no recording ,no indication, of Frank ever singing this song. I listened to a bunch others -- Al Jolson, Dean Martin, Frankie Laine, Bobby Darin -- nobody can sing it like Frank in my head. Hands down, Brian Setzer has the best version out there.

We'll listen to that, other Sinatra songs, and Ela Orleans, Earth Wind & Fire, Allen Ginsburg, Sharon Jones, Oliver Elf Army, Alarm Will Sound. Lots lots more.

Great show this week!

We never rest at Community Noise. One hand working on the new show for this week, while the other hand is dabbling in finding more stuff. Perhaps shades of a future show, below is a link to Gabba -- a cover band playing Abba songs ala The Ramones (e.g., Gabba Gabba Hey!).

Our show this week may or may not feature Abba, but will feature a Hotels theme for about the first 40 minutes, at the 9 o'clock hour we'll play side A of the second lp of Frank Zappa's 3-lp set, Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar, and lots lots more.

Tune into Community Noise on Wednesday evenings 8-10pm and (repeat) Thursday mornings 8-10am on KBFG 107.3 North Seattle, also streaming from www.KBFGseattle.org/listen.

When I created this show, we were all new learners to what a global pandemic is like, thus the Yellow Jack flag. And now, I am playing reruns for completely unrelated reasons.

Still, great shows tomorrow -- episodes 50 and 51 for those of you keeping score at home -- when means The Clash, De La Soul, Blessed Blood, compositions by Frank Zappa and Morton Feldman, the latter giving us "Rothko Chapel". I mean come on, great show, right?

All on Community Noise, Thursday 8-10am, on KBFG 107.3 North Seattle, and streaming from www.KBFGseattle.org/listen.
