In our recent issue, we spoke with Kiana Estevez about her work as a food educator with Cooking with Kids on the South Side. Her approach is beautifully simple and deeply rooted: “I teach through the senses—smell, touch, taste. That’s how you connect with yourself. That’s how you connect with your community. That’s how you connect with others.”
It’s that same sensory approach that inspired her to start making and selling kombucha in Santa Fe.

We spoke with Buddy, Tiger, and Amado Abeyta — grandsons of Roman Salazar, patriarch of one of Santa Fe’s original founding families. They shared stories of how their father and grandfather influenced them through art, music, and a deep commitment to community. It’s a legacy they now carry forward, passing it on to their own children and continuing to weave it into the fabric of Santa Fe.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the men who show up with love, guidance, and strength — in big ways and small — for the children and communities they help raise.
Read the touching stories the three sons told of their family’s history in our most recent issue (15).

Pilar Law—affectionately known by some locals as “Mamma Canyon”—has been coming to Canyon Road since she was a little girl.
She’s the owner of Edition One Gallery, a vibrant space dedicated to art, photography, and community.
Recently, she transformed the back of her gallery into a charming little store offering local goods, from handmade candles to locally made sodas. With this addition, she’s bringing the spirit of the classic mom-and-pop market back to Canyon Road—and we couldn’t be more excited.
